— ON THE MONDAY MORNING, after they'd arrived home James, Isabella and Harry decided to have a movie day seen as Harry's school was having a bank holiday weekend meaning he had the Friday and Monday off. As they always do, James grabs all the blankets he can find, Isabella makes some popcorn whilst Harry picks out a movie.

Isabella sits in the middle of the two, leaning her head against James whilst Harry snuggles up into her side whilst she hold the bowl of popcorn on her lap so everyone can reach it. Harry had chosen to watch Back to the Future today. Around half way through, the bell rang. "I'll get it" James told Isabella, kissing her head before getting up, leaving her and Harry cuddled up together with a blanket wrapped around them as they laughed at the movie.

James ran a hand through his hair before opening up the door. He had to a double take at who it was, due to the fact it was someone he thought he'd never see in a million years. "What are you doing here, Lily?" He asked confusedly, eyeing the woman in shock. "What do you mean why am I here James? I'm here to see Harry" She announced happily whilst looking into the house to see if she could see him, obviously wanting to come in.

"I don't know if he'll be pleased to see you Lily, you really upset him" James sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Oh hush, I'm his mum why wouldn't he be happy to see me?" Lily questioned, having enough of not being invited in and walking in herself. James hurried after her as she walked towards the living room where she heard laughing. She stopped in her tracks when she saw Isabella sitting with Harry.

"Who are you?" Lily spoke up, grabbing the attention of the duo on the couch making them turn to look at her. "Mum?" Harry questioned in shock. James sent an apologetic look to Isabella but she just sent a small smile in return, she knew this wasn't his plan. "Don't I get a hug?" Lily asked Harry, a bright smile on her face as she opened her arms for him. Lily's smile faltered when he didn't come racing into her arms like she'd expected.

Instead he looked up at Isabella, his face begging her to save him. Isabella gave his hand a soft squeeze before standing up and walking over to Lily. "I'm Isabella, Isabella Love" She introduced herself politely, holding a hand out to Lily. "I know who you are, I do read a newspaper" Lily retorted, looking her up and down. "Lily, could I talk to you for a minute?" James asked, an agitated look spreading across his face. Lily tutted before reluctantly following after him into the dining room.

"Did you know she was coming?" Harry asked Isabella as she sat back down next to him. "No, I didn't little man, are you okay?" Isabella asked, gently brushing some stray hairs away from his face. "Yeah, I'm okay" He nodded, a small smile appearing on his face. "How about we play a game whilst they talk?" She offered, wanting to keep him busy and take his mind off of it. When Harry nodded, Isabella got up from her seat and made her through to the hallway and towards the cupboard where she kept the games.

Unfortunately it was right next to the dining room and it didn't seem like the conversation was going well when she heard Lily shouting something at James. Isabella hurried to find a game and get away from their but it seemed that was out of the cards when the door opened up and Lily came storming out. She spotted Isabella looking up at her as she stood up with a game in her hands.

"Were you listening in?" Lily questioned Isabella angrily who looked at her confusedly. "No, I was just getting a game for Harry to play" Isabella told her, holding eye contact with her. "It's not your job to do things for him, you're not his mother I am" Lily raised her voice at Isabella but she wasn't the slightest bit scary. "And if you don't mind me asking, where have you been when he's needed his mother for past what? five or so years?" Isabella asked, placing the game on the cabinet beside her.

At this point James came out after hearing them arguing. "Lily I think it's time you left" he said, walking to Isabella's side. "James you can't think this is okay? This tramp isn't his mother, tell her. She can't waltz in her and take my place, with him or you" Lily argued making James let out a trained laugh. "With me?" He questioned.

"Lily I don't think you've realised that I'm not that silly little boy that worships the ground you walk on anymore, what a clown he was" James began, ready to go at her. "And now here you are thinking you can walk in and just expect me to still love you, well it seems you've been mistaken. Isabella deserves all the love I can give her and more, she cares for me and Harry more than you ever did" James argued, glancing over at Isabella.

"Back then I didn't have anything you needed so I was worthless to you and it broke me because I really did love you but not anymore because then Isabella came along. She never walks away after a fight; she never asks me for anything and she cares for Harry as though he was he own child. It was your choice to leave me Lily and I'm so glad you did, you were toxic and no matter how many times my friends tried to tell me, I never listened to them"

"That still doesn't give her the right to step in and take role as his mother" Lily insisted but this time Isabella spoke. "I have never once said to you that I'm taking your place but you know what, I'd love to. Harry is wonderful little boy who I'd feel entirely grateful to call my son" Isabella began, without realising that the very young boy that she was talking about had walked into the room.

"I'd never leave that young boy like you left him. I know exactly what it feels like to have a mother that wants nothing to do with you and that's the last thing I want for Harry. It's souls destroying and the little boy deserves the world and unlike you, I'd put him first" Isabella finished strongly, her eyes tearing up a little. She could barely look at the woman in front of her because she reminded her far too much of her own mother. The look on her face was the exact same way her mother looked at her the other night.

Hatred.

Before Isabella knew it, she was tackled into a hug as little arms wrapped around her. When she looked down she found Harry clinging to her waist. Isabella smiled softly without thinking as she wrapped her arms around him as well.

"Isabella's been more of a mum to me than you have ever been, she hasn't walked out on me like you did. She plays with me and she always makes sure I'm happy. I would much rather call her mum than you" Harry told his mother. The little speech tugged on Isabella's heart strings a lot, especially when he said he'd rather call her mum. That truly touched her.

Lily started at the young boy in shock. "But I'm your mum" Lily told him breathlessly, not believing what she was hearing. "No" Harry said, taking Isabella's hand. "She is" Harry stated, looking up at Isabella with a sweet, sad smile. Isabella bit her lip to stop herself from crying as she looked down at the young boy.

"It's time to leave now Lily" James stated, stepping forward. "After you" James gestured his arm towards the door. Lily stared hopelessly at Harry, realising that she really had messed everything up. But it was too late for her to change anything. Harry had made us choice.

Isabella was his mum.

..........

OMG, HE CALLED HER MUM!!!!!!!!

I hated writing Lily like that but for purposes of the story it had to be done, still love her though just not this version :)

Hope you enjoyed,
Grace <3
