—WHEN HARRY FOUND OUT what happened to Isabella he was devastated. The little guy did everything in his power to heal her as fast as he could. Sometimes, he would read her some of his comic books to help her sleep or bring some games to play with her. However, his dad did make sure that Harry wasn't in there all the time so that she could get some rest.
James and Isabella now slept on the same bed for two reasons. One they were a couple obviously but reason two was that James wanted to be by her side to make sure she was okay. So on this specific night, James made his way through to his and Isabella's bedroom to tell Harry to get ready for bed. When he walked sun the room he found Harry already in his pyjamas, lying sleeping next to Isabella, an open comic book lying over his stomach.
James couldn't help but smile as he took Harry's Iron man comic and placed it on the bedside table. He didn't have the heart to move Harry so he lifted the covers over the little guy's body. James took his glass off and laid them on the table before getting into bed himself.
Isabella was very excited for the next day as it was Sirius' birthday and they were all coming round to her apartment as she couldn't get out of her bed. She had at first insisted that she could walk downstairs but James insisted he'd carry her as she wasn't to move because it would damage her ribs further. She knew there was no protesting him on that.
Her bruises were healing well and she didn't have an overload of pain every time she breathed but it still hurt when people hugged her. James glanced over at Isabella who was asleep soundly with Harry cuddled into her. James closed his eyes with an absentminded smile on his face as he drifted off to sleep.
Isabella however wasn't sleeping as soundly as James thought. She lay there, her head turning in discomfort as the terrifying scenes of her nightmare played out. The two days she spent in that abandoned building with the death eaters had clearly done something to her. The nightmares seem vivid and real and are very upsetting, often becoming more disturbing as the dream unfolds.
Each of the nightmares were the same every time. Her meeting with Fenrir Greyback. Not the one she had a few days ago but the one from when she was younger. she used to have the nightmare for months after it happened but she eventually grew up and it faded away. But now she was back where she was all those years ago.
Every time she wakes up with a start, jumping slightly as she regained herself. Sometimes she'd even panic that even though she was awake he would come for her again even though she knew Moody had locked him away. She just couldn't help but feel on edge when it came to that man.
She sat herself up in the bed, lifting the glass of water of the side table to help her quench her dry mouth. She ran her hand through Harry's hair to calm herself down. She looked to her side and found James' eyes fluttering open. "Hey" He whispered, seeing that she was awake. "You okay?" He asked as he rubbed his eyes.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just a silly nightmare, go back to sleep" she told him gently, moving stray hairs away from his face. "No, it's okay, do you want to talk about it?" James asked, sitting up and leaning on his elbow. "Maybe tomorrow" Isabella smiled lightly making James nod understandingly. Isabella adjusted the covers on her when she felt her ribs begin to hurt once again. "Do you want some medicine?" James queried, noticing the pain etched on her face.
"Do you mind?" Isabella asked making James wave her off as he got out of bed. "Course not" James insisted as he went into the bathroom and grabbed the medicine bottle that the doctors gave Isabella for her pain. He walked back through and handed it over to her. She thanked him before taking another dose of the medicine.
As she laid the medicine down on the table Harry had snuggled further into her making a content smile appear on her face.
the next day
sirius' birthdayJames gently carried Isabella down the soars, careful not to hurt her. He sat her down on the couch before kissing her forehead. "When will they be here?" Isabella asked as she fixed her dress. One thing she was able to do was dress herself as long James brought the clothes over to their bed. "Any minute now" James informed her as Harry came running down the stairs before jumping onto the sofa next to Isabella who greeted him with a bright smile.
"Did they catch all the death eaters?" Isabella asked James who sat down beside Harry so he was now in the middle. "Most of them but I don't think it will be long until Malfoy's wife pays for him to be freed" James scoffed angrily, knowing that's exactly what happened the last time Lucius was locked up. Isabella might be the minister of magic but there's nothing she can do if they're willing to pay the money to free them.
The price is very high to free Lucius but she knew money was the least of the Malfoy's problems.
She was snapped out of her thoughts when the doorbell rang. James stood up and squeezed Isabella's shoulder comfortingly, seeing the worried look behind her eye, before walking towards the front door. "Hey guys" James greeted, standing to the side to let them in. "Prongs, how's Bella?" Remus asked as he hung up his jacket. "She's good, still a bit sore. She's just through there" James in told them making them walk through to see her.
James went through to the kitchen to grab them all something to drink. He brought the boys some beer and got Harry and Isabella some orange juice. Isabella wasn't able to drink whilst on medication so unfortunately she couldn't have her favourite pomegranate gin, she'd just have to stick with the orange juice.
He walked back into the living room and passed everyone their drinks before sitting down beside Isabella and softly wrapping an arm around her, kissing her temple. "How are you feeling?" Remus asked Isabella as he sat down on the sofa. "I'm feeling a lot better, thanks. Harry do you want to get Sirius his present?" Isabella asked as she leaned her head on her shoulder as Harry got up from the couch to pass Sirius his presents from everyone. The trio had all clubbed together to get Sirius something they knew he'd like.
He took the present from Harry and took of the wrapping paper. Inside was an envelope that read, 'open last' on top of the present underneath. He smiled before lifting the envelope out and placing it to the side before taking out what was hidden underneath. He brought out the converse box with an excited smile before opening it up to see the shoes inside. He gasped in awe as he took out the pink, sparkly high-top converse, like the ones Roger Taylor had. Harry had remembered that Sirius had said he'd wanted to get a pair like that someday.
"I love them" Sirius gushed as took of the shoes he was wearing to put on the new ones. "What do you think?" He asked as raised his feet in air making everyone smile. "They suit you" Remus complimented, bringing his husbands legs back down to the ground. Sirius took the last thing out of the package to reveal a lovely fur coat, like the one Freddie Mercury wore when he played Killer Queen on top of the pops.
"Oh my god!" Sirius squealed as he stood up and threw on the coat, spinning around to show it off. "This is never coming off of my body" Sirius decided as he plopped back down on the chair as Isabella laughed. A few hours later they brought out the cake and all sang happy birthday to Sirius, who loved every second of having the attention on him. All his bruises were healing and he was looking a lot better than compared to the other day she saw him.
Isabella smiled to herself as she watched her new found family laugh and joke together. Her life had changed in so many ways due to all of these people in her living room. Her life had changed for the better. Before she was all alone in this big empty apartment and now her apartment was a place she enjoyed coming back to because of the faces she saw when she walked through the door each day.
