•Y/N's pov; a day ago:
"Hello, is this Y/N L/N? I see here you applied to work at Hacketts Quarry, but didn't get in because we hired enough people. Well, it seems like our two counselors haven't shown up today. I was wondering if you would like to drive up and work for us this summer. Of course you can say no, but since you'll work twice as hard, you'll get double your normal salary. Can we count on you Y/N?" A voice asks, Chris Hackett to be exact.
You ponder this idea.
'It'd be a way to get money, a great start to start off with before college. Aw, what the hell, I'll take it.'
"Yes, you can count on me Mr. Hackett! So, shall I pack up today and work my way over tonight? Or pack up and leave straight away sir?" I ask through my phone.
"Oh, I'd say pack and drive up straight away! These kids are crazy." Chris says, laughing at his statement. I just chuckle along.
"Alright. Oh! And sir?" I ask, I hear him hum in acknowledgment.
"Can you use my preferred pronouns? They're
he/they sir. Oh, and maybe I can stay in the boys cabins? I'd feel most comfortable there." I state. It's silent for what feels like hours.
"I'll see what I can do Y/N. Thank you for telling me this beforehand. I'll be happy to see you once you get here. Drive safely!" Mr. Hackett says, making me smile due to how much he cares for me and his counselors.
I sit up from the living room couch and walk upstairs and into my room. I pull out a suitcase to fit two months worth of clothes and pack them all inside. I smile to myself and exit my room and walk towards the bathroom next. I pick up my toothbrush and toothpaste, mens deodorant, shampoo conditioner, pads, and above all else, my trans tape to bind my godforsaken breasts more comfortably. I look down and see my flat chest as I'm wearing my binder for now. I smile and walk out of the bathroom with my personal hygiene products, and walk downstairs to get my satchel to put everything besides the suitcase into. I look down at all my belongings and nod to myself, proud of the work I've achieved in such a short time. I walk into the kitchen, grabs my keys off the hook on the wall, and grab my satchel and suitcase. I go to the front door and open it, walking out into the bright summers day, and close the door behind me once I have my bags out the house. Turning, I go and lock the front door and walk towards my car. Opening the trunk, I put my suitcase into the back and slam the trunk closed. Walking to the drivers side of the car, I open the door and enter the car. Putting my satchel beside me in the passenger seat, I use my key to start up the car and I let out a sign.
'Hacketts Quarry here I come I guess.' I think before backing out of my driveway and onto the street.
