•Y/N's pov; present day:
I drive up to the camp, careful not to hit any kids. I get questionable looks from kids and older teens, who I'm assuming are my fellow counselors and soon to be friends. I park and sigh, unbuckling my seatbelt and grab my satchel from the passenger seat. I open up the door and step out to smell the fresh air of the woods and nature itself. Children surround me and ask me questions about who I am and what I'm doing here. The lodge's door opens and out steps two people, an older gentleman and a younger one with dark brown hair. They're both white men, the older one walks towards the children and parts them like Moses parted the seas.
"Move along children. I need to get our newest counselor to their cabin." The man says, who I'm assuming is Chris Hackett, the owner of the camp.
The second man wears a brown shirt and skinny jeans, along with a pair of sneakers and a necklace around his neck. He looks at the children, me, and then Chris Hackett. The children move along and walk up the stairs and into the lodge, leaving me alone with the two men.
"Welcome Y/N! Sorry about all the kids, you know what it's like being a kid and wanting to know everything and everyone." Chris says, I just smile and nod.
"Eh-hem!" The other man coughs, gaining mine and Chris's attention. Chris rolls his eyes.
"Sorry Dylan. This is Y/N, your second bunk mate. Y/N over here is our newest counselor! Since the other two, Max and Laura didn't show up, Y/N here will be filling in for those two for the next two months." Chris explains to this 'Dylan' and then turns to me.
"Y/N, I invited Dylan here to show you to your cabin you will be sharing with him and Nick, but since Nick is helping Abigail out currently, Dylan will be the one showing you around the grounds. Dylan, please show Y/N to the infirmary and cafeteria. Is that clear?" Chris asks, I nod my head and Dylan nods as well.
"Whatever. Come along Y/N, just follow me and we'll go on an adventure together." Dylan says, smiling down at me.
Dylan begins to walk and I follow after him, turning to Chris and wave at him before turning back around to look forward.
"So....you're Y/N? You know anyone here besides Chris and me?" Dylan asks, trying to dissipate the awkward silence surrounding us.
"No...I don't think so. I've never worked here before, so I don't expect me knowing anyone." I whisper, hating my own feminine voice. I look up at Dylan to see his eyes widen.
"Holy shit! You're a girl?!" Dylan yells, causing me to cringe at both his tone and words.
"No. Well yes, I guess before I started to transition. No, well, I was once a girl, yes. But now I identify as
he/they, so I'd love if you would use those pronouns for me." I explain, Dylan nods his head.
"So, what's that been like? Have you started treatment? Are you binding with a binder or are you using trans tape? Have you gotten anything removed?" Dylan asks question after question and I somewhat freeze, catching me off guard.
"Oh, shit, sorry. That's a lotta questions. You don't have to answer if you don't want to." Dylan says, scratching the back of his neck.
"No no, you're fine I guess. Just, I dunno. I can't afford treatment at the moment, or college, for that matter. But obviously college is more important, so currently I use both binders and trans tape. Currently I'm wearing the tape though, as the drive here was long. So half way I switched from my binder to my tape so I didn't get any physical problems. Just kinda figured I didn't want to die from a punctured heart or anything." I say, shrugging.
"Ah...well, that's nice to know. I'm just a normal dude or whatever. Well, here we are Y/N! Our cabin. Three 18 year olds and like ten children, sounds like a great mix." Dylan states sarcastically, making me chuckle.
"Yep, hopefully you aren't a pedophile or something like that." I say, elbowing him in the ribs.
"Ow...." Dylan says, rubbing his ribs.
"You poor poor baby." I say, walking over to an empty bunk bed.
"Oh, sweet, you get to sleep below me. Have fun smelling my butt." Dylan stated, causing me to grimace at his statement.
"What if I'm into it?" I tease, a smirk plastered on my face. Dylan looks at me with widened eyes.
"Oh my god! Your face!" I laugh, pointing at Dylan. His face flushes.
"Stooooppppp! You're embarrassing me!" Dylan whines, causing me to chuckle at his childish behavior.
"You started it." I grumble, Dylan scoffs.
"How childish of you." I say, rolling my eyes.
A child walks in with a taller man than Dylan, he has blackish brown hair, a tan, hazel eyes, and a red shirt on with cut up blue jeans.
"Are we interrupting something?" The man asks, a thick Australian accent shining through.
"Oh shut up Nick. I was just showing the new guy around." Dylan states, pointing over at me.
"Oh! Nice to meet you. Are you a new counselor?" Nick asks, I nod my head.
"I'm Nick by the way, and you are?" Nick asks, trying his best to be patient with me.
"I'm Y/N. I'm filling in for the two counselors who didn't show up." I explain, looking down at my feet.
I feel Nick and Dylan exchange a look.
"Well...it's nice to meet you Y/N. Me and Braeden over here forgot to grab some stuff to play with outside. Did you find what you were looking for Braeden?" Nick asks, I hear a prepubescent voice say a simple "yes."
"Alright, cool. C'mon then kid, let's go play some ga-ga-ball." Nick says before walking out of the cabin with Braeden. I turn to Dylan.
"Ga-ga-ball?" I ask, Dylan just nods his head.
"Interesting. Haven't played that since I was a kid." I say, placing my satchel on my bed and suitcase by the beside table.
"Alright, well, later tonight you can unpack. Let me continue to show you around and the. We'll eat lunch with the whole camp and then you can go to your nursing station. Sound good?" Dylan asks, I nod my head and he smiles at me.
"Alright then, let's go." Dylan says, leaving the cabin and I follow shortly behind him.•Sorry if Dylan isn't like he normally is, it might take a bit for me to get his personality. As for the storyline, would you prefer the reader and Dylan to be buds or enemies who secretly like each other? Up to you!
