I woke up enveloped in the coat that Rosie was wearing when I acknowledged she wasn't there. I got up looking around for her just to see her out of the NICU peeking into the room from the glass window in the door.
She rubs her arms so I put the coat on her shoulder, "Hey..." I smiled even though she can't see it because of the mask. She had incisions in her eyes when I reached on tiptoe to see what she was staring at and I saw babies in the room.
"They are at left in the second last row, I assume... they're sleeping since the blanket is not moving. I asked the doctor they said, ash is still asleep. Everyone is on their way to come here, they'll get here soon" she showed me the time on her phone and I just can't help but grin at her phone's wallpaper. Her nieces
"It's 3 am, you should rest..." I turn her to me buttoning up the coat though her eyes were still lingering in the room of babies.
"Doctor gives them injections in front of eyes... they were crying, Jennie. I-... I can still hear them in my head... they were hurt, they were crying... so bad" she began crying as well wiping her nonstop tears from her arms so I offered her my hankie.
"And here I thought you don't like kids..." I chuckled wiping her eyes and pulling her into a hug to comfort her and nothing mattered.
The time is challenging, I feel like even the god is with us since the corridor was empty. People were barely around us or if they were, it won't stop me from comforting her because she needs me.
"They are my nieces... I have nieces... They held my finger in their tiny little fist and I feel like....I feel like... I'm god's dearest for welcoming them. Their doe eyes were gazing at me probably presuming who I was... they have these sparks in their eyes-..." she choked on her tears so I rub her back soothing her.
"I get it, you love them. They will be fine... come with me," I told her attempting to drag her though she didn't move which causes me to draw back in my arms and I glance up to see her still sniffing and peeking at her nieces even though their face is not visible from here.
"I don't want to leave them... I'm the only person on the behalf of my family who is here so if the doctor would look for me to any information?" she asked, without rending her gaze away from the window.
"Okay... Just sit here while I come back in a min" I make her sit on the chairs which were right beside the room when she held my wrist.
"Don't walk around alone in a crowded place, stay here" she pulled me beside her, what is she? an angel or something? How can she be concerned about everyone at the same time?
"You haven't eaten anything so I just going to buy something to eat, trust me" I got up though she pulled me back shaking her head.
"I trust you but... I'm not hungry, are you?"
"You should eat something and no I'm not"
"I will eat tomorrow with my cousin,"
"B-"
"You can't force me, if I said no then no." she declared. "Okay, okay, stop threatening me" I put my hands in the air before wrapping them around her neck to hug her.
She smiled putting her head on my shoulder caressing my knuckles on her neck. Every moment felt right with her, the way she holds my hand is just so assuring that we are okay. I wanna stay close to her forever that much she has become important and precious to me.
"They were crying... I can't stop thinking about it" she murmured, her searing tears on my neck fuming like hell. She has been only crying for the past few hours and I just wanna hold her, her love for family is a kind of bond I didn't have with mine because of all the schedules.
