Loud clattering pulls you out of Dreamland, the invasive sounds too loud for your sensitive hearing.
Your eyes flutter open, taking in your surroundings while you rub the sleep out of your eyes. The sight of the living room; the unused fireplace and the feeling of the couch under you takes you back to the occurrences of yesterday.
You groan, hiding your face in the cushion. The cover trapped over your body must have fallen off the bed, now laying on the floor, leaving you exposed to the cool air.
Thankfully the couch pulls out, the material not exactly comfortable to sleep on but at least you didn't have to sleep on a narrow space.
Another loud sound echoes from the kitchen area, your brows furrowing as you sit up on the couch. You take a glance at the clock hanging on the wall, sighing quietly as you read the time – 7am.
God, this woman seriously needs to get some more sleep. Who wakes up this early when you're on vacation?
Running a hand through your hair, you slowly stand up and stretch out your limbs. You know that turning around and trying to sleep again would be hopeless with the orchestra concert coming out of the other room.
Disappearing into the bathroom at first, not wanting to face her while looking like you just fought a bear, you splash some water on to your skin.
Combing through your hair, you pull it up in a bun and brush your teeth. You hated the fact that you now have to look a bit presentable when staying in the cabin.
But with Wanda sharing the place, you are not in the mood to give her another reason to look at you weirdly. You let out a long sigh, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes.
After a few minutes in the bathroom, you walk into the kitchen. Wanda sits at the wooden table; book and coffee in hand.
She wears a brown flannel; cozy looking gray sweatpants hugging her legs. Her red hair is neatly tied in a braid again, only the front strands brushing over her face.
"Good morning." You greet her with a still sleepy voice, trying to sound as polite as possible.
Wanda looks up from her book, eyes quickly flickering over your figure.
Her lips part ever so slightly as she looks at you; the change in her eyes going unnoticed by you as you walk to towards the kitchen counter."Morning." She mumbles, following your every movement with her eyes, as you don't even take a second glance in her direction.
This small interaction is the only thing between you two in the next couple of minutes as Wanda moves her attention back to her book. You prepare yourself some bread with marmalade, not giving it another second thought.
"I made coffee if you want some of it. It's too much to drink all by myself."
Surprised to hear her talk to you again; moreover offer you something, you turn your head in her direction. She raises a brow, pointing to the coffee pot at the corner of the counter.
"Yes, I'd love to have some." You reply, showing your gratitude with a small smile. "Thanks."
Wanda presses her lips together, visibly not knowing how to act in this new territory of kindness. "Great."
You suppress a chuckle at her addled expression, stepping towards the coffee pot and placing it on the kitchen table. The redhead looks at you weirdly, watching you grab a mug and your full plate.
You sit down opposite her, not wanting to eat your breakfast in the living room. Filling the brown liquid into the mug, the steam of the coffee rising up the air, you feel an intense peace flowing through your bones.
