STEVE HAD barely slept a wink that night, tossing and turning as his restless mind taunted him with agonising thoughts. He was a fool to believe that it would ever last between them, there was always something nibbling at his brain in caution to when the final trumpet would blow.
He had changed, mentally more than anything just for the likes of Nancy, not that the male was complaining as he could hold both hands up in surrender and state he was a grade A asshole before, but that didn't change the solemn fact that it hurt. Way more than he expected.
What went wrong? Was he too clingy or too pushy towards her? And why the fuck can he not stop thinking about those repetitive words she had slurred in the bathroom on Halloween.
Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.
Her eyes that once held so much sparkle for him had become dull and bland, only gazing towards him with exhaustion rather than lust and love like she once did. It was obvious in the way she kissed him, lifeless with no passion, in the way her hands held his, barely and weak. All the signs were there, Steve was just too dumb and hung up over the female to realise she didn't actually ever mean those fragile three words that passed her lips on the daily.
He was only ever capable of loving, never capable of being loved.
And he truly did believe that he loved Nancy genuinely, everything about her was the teenage dream that he once had and lost in the matter of minutes. Steve just wasn't enough for the female anymore, or perhaps he never was.
A frustrated groan tore from his throat as he turned on to his side and watched the hands on his alarm clock tick with every second that passed, ten minutes, thirty minutes, forty five minutes, an hour. Before he could muster up the energy to create another scenario about how she'd forgive him and take him back, three hours had passed and sunrise had taken its place, inferring that another long day was crawling in and the chance to rest was now long gone.
It's not like he could have slept anyway, too many emotions were pounding through every organism that consisted within his whole being. Hurt, confusion, loss, grief and mostly anger- but not by the hands of Nancy, that feeling came along with the thought of that stupid bitch, Isabelle fucking Henderson.
Always poking her nose into the worst situations and making them about herself, making Steve's life a complete misery with her stupid words and annoying voice. It was like ramming a cold blade straight into his eardrum repeatedly, tainting the male so she was always present in his mind for the worst reasoning one could come up with.
It was only recently that her confidence expanded enough so she could start throwing daggers his way, and Steve missed when he hadn't had the slightest clue who she even was- her presence completely irrelevant and unnecessary. Isabelle was the embodiment of a foul mood, constantly casting a storm cloud above the males head and raining on him with every chance she got.
