Oriel sat on her bed with her back against the wall. Her body finally felt free, but she couldn't help but think that something was wrong. She couldn't help but think that someone was still going to come after her. Dyso was crazy, but he wouldn't have backed down so easily. He's still going to pursue her.
She knew he wouldn't give up so easily.
Oriel knew that Xara wanted revenge for her companion. She was more afraid of what Xara would do than what Dyso would do. Xara didn't care if she kept Oriel alive or not. Dyso wanted her alive, but Xara would kill her once she got the chance.
Oriel's eyes snapped over to the stairs when she heard the sound of footsteps walking up. Her body relaxed as Tassian appeared at the top of the stairs. His eyes met hers and a smile spread over his face.
Tassian walked over to her and sank onto the bed beside her. He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him. Placing a soft kiss on her forehead, he whispered, "What are you worried about?"
Oriel leaned her head against his shoulder and sighed. "Everything. I know we weren't wrong in leaving and finding Vega, but I feel that everything will go wrong. Horribly, fucking, wrong," her voice quivered.
Tassian's arm tightened. "Nothing is going to go wrong, Oriel. Krathys needs to be taken down. We are the only ones that are capable of doing that. We are the only ones who are strong enough to do it. We are the only ones that are brave enough to do it."
"We have people who are after us, Tassian," Oriel reminded him as she moved to face him. "There are people who want us dead. She wants us dead, Tassian."
Tassian shook his head. "No one has been able to kill us yet."
"They've come close."
"And we defeated them," Tassian reminded her slowly. He ran a hand through her hair. "You cannot keep doubting yourself, Eagle. You are a skilled assassin. You were trained to fight and kill. Yes, you lost an important part of yourself, but that doesn't change you."
Oriel nodded. She knew he was right, but she couldn't help but think that losing her wings was wrong. "We're leaving tomorrow, Tassian."
Tassian nodded as he lay down, pulling her down with him. "Promise me that you'll stay by my side," he begged into her hair.
Oriel nodded as she moved closer to him. "I already told you I would. I'm not fragile, Tassian."
"I know," he sighed. "I almost lost you way too many times." His arms tightened around her waist. "I don't want to lose you. I don't want to think that I'm going to lose you." He moved so he could look at her. His hand came up and tucked a stray hair behind her ear. "I know you can take care of yourself and I know that you're not fragile, but this is for my mind. If I lost you I will go insane. I do not want to know the man that I will become if you were taken from me."
Oriel pushed onto his chest so he was laying on his back. She straddled his waist as she looked down at him. "I will stay by your side. No one is going to take me from you, Tassian."
Tassian's hands roamed up and down her thighs. He looked her up and down before smirking. "I think we need to go hunting for the trip back home."
Oriel chuckled as she rolled her eyes. She moved off of him. "The last time we went hunting, I lost my wings."
Tassian's smirk fell slightly. "I'm sure they won't bother us again. I think they learned their lesson."
Oriel bent down and grabbed their swords from under the bed and handed Tassian his. "Let's go."
----
The sun was starting to set by the time they finished laying out all of their traps. Oriel leaned against a tree a good ways away from their last trap. She smiled over at Tassian who was leaning back against the tree opposite of her. The look on his face was dark as he moved closer to her.
"Tassian," Oriel smirked. "We can't spook the animals."
Tassian chuckled as he caged her in between his arms. His wings moved around them, practically blanketing them in darkness. "Then you need to be quiet, Eagle." Tassian bent down and connected his lips to hers in a rough kiss.
Oriel couldn't help herself as her hands moved down to his waist, playing with the button of his pants. When she was successful in unbuttoning his pants, she slipped her hand into his pants, cupping his already hard cock.
A growl came out of Tassian as he suddenly got down onto his knees and pulled her pants down. The sudden cool air made goosebumps rise onto her skin. Tassian didn't waste any time in grabbing her left leg and draping it over his shoulder. His eyes snapped up to hers and smirked. "Keep quiet, Eagle." His fingers ran over her area quickly. "If anyone interrupts us again, I won't hesitate to kill them."
Oriel let out a long groan as his tongue swiped through her. At first, he was slow and gentle but it wasn't long until he started getting rough. It was getting harder for her to keep quiet as he continued to suck on her clit.
"Tassian," Oriel groaned quietly.
"Come for me, Eagle," he ordered her.
Oriel didn't waste long in obeying him. Her fingers that were curled into his hair tightened as she came down from her orgasm. She fell limp against the tree as he stood up. She bit her lip as she watched him push his pants down.
Tassian wrapped his arms around her waist and hoisted her up. "I need you to promise me that if I'm too rough with you, that you'll let me know," he told her as he pressed a soft kiss to her lips.
"I promise," she breathed.
