Childish

Of course, it was Viviano. Who else?

No, really, who else? I had no other friends...

I steadied myself back on the ground, blushing. Why-

Wait, I thought, I'm not even speaking out loud...

"Why on earth are you here?", I hissed, twirling my hair to calm myself down.

"I told you yesterday we were going to hang out."

Right. My bad memory is one of my biggest flaws. I spent most of my post-it writing things I needed to remember on them. It was actually a part of my nighttime routine.

Still, why was Viviano super early?

"I have all day to make it up to you.", my friend added, like he read my mind.

I sensed that he would get what he wanted in the end, so I saved my breath arguing with him.

"I need to change first. And brush my teeth..."

I ran back to my bedroom, grabbing the first clothes I spotted in my closet. Jumping into my pair of jean overalls, I let it hang on my hips and put on a purple t-shirt. I brought up my one piece over the crop top, took a pair of socks and raced to the bathroom.

Weirdly enough, I did not mind making my best friend's boyfriend wait, I just did not want him roaming around my house without anyone supervising his every move. I would really hate it if he found out a picture frame or anything that could lead him to asking questions about my past. I didn't often speak about my teenage years with people, even friends. I didn't bring it up and never joined in on conversations about the past. If it weren't for my relationship with Jess, I don't think I would ever reminisce anything from my old life.

Removing my toothbrush from a plastic cup where my brother also stored his toothbrush and applying a coat of white toothpaste with small blue and red stripes on it, I open the faucet.

My mind couldn't stop going back to whether this was a date or not. Did I want it to be one? He was almost married, after all. So, in theory, it shouldn't. But then again, Viviano saw his commitment with Teerana more like a deal. That did not mean that cheating was allowed in a couple. I doubted that my girl friend was aware of their money agreement. For her, the marriage was to show she could have a partner, she could be loved by someone, and a handsome one too. Viviano DiSalvi was a doll, he was there for show and to increase her self-worth.

On the flip side, Viviano was taking advantage of my best friend's money situation.

Both were in the wrong. Their couple was a front.

And so, that was the main reason why I carried on with brushing my teeth, tying my hair in a ponytail and went down the stairs afterwards. This time, I paid attention to where I set foot on, I would not be skipping a step again.

Viviano was sitting on our couch, scrolling through his social media on his cellphone.

Not snooping. Why would he snoop? Of course he was not snooping. He was not a snooper. Who was a snooper, anyway? Did I even know people who snooped? Was I friends with snoopers? No.

"That was fast. You ready, then?", he questionned me, putting his phone in his jean's back pocket.

   "Yeah."

I realized that he really believed we were going on a date to god knows where, that conclusion was not surprising.

My brother sprinted in our direction just as we were about to leave.

"Charlie! Where are you boing? Going, boing.". He grinned at his mispronunciation, my friend replied for me:

"I'm bringing your sister out of the house for once."
