one month later

By this time all their friends had known about Robin and Nancy. They all hung out almost daily, and Robin started to feel more comfortable with them. She was never really apart of their group, only being Steve's friend. She had really found an interest in Max, like she could see a bit of her younger self in her.

The group was hanging out at the arcade, the boys had been playing centipede for hours so Nancy, Robin, and Max sat outside on a picnic table. Robin was distracted by a little bird and she was determined to pet it.

"You guys do realize you made it blatantly obvious you were together. Even before you were together, I knew Robin had a crush on you. I had to act surprised when you told me."

"It was really obvious?"

"Maybe not to the boys because they're total idiots. Even Steve. But I always had a feeling and I'm always right."

Nancy smiled and rolled her eyes, finding it sweet that Max noticed. Although it made her feel stupid because she thought they hid it well. She looked over at her girlfriend chasing a little blue bird, who was easily mesmerized by the smallest things. Nancy noticed that about her. She also noticed the way she points her feet inwards when she's nervous. The way she would changed from topic to topic when she was talking about something important to her. The way she elbowed Steve whenever he joked to her, always in the same spot too. All these little things are what made her fall in love with Robin. The things that made her different from the boys she had dated before.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a voice calling her name, only to look over and see Robin, who caught the bird. She had no idea why this bird meant so much to her but she found it adorable. Lucas called Max in the arcade because he had bought her a slushee, so it were just the two of them again.

Then, they heard the sound of thunder and Robins face lit up with excitement.

"Nance! Can we go? Can we go?"

When Robin called her 'Nance' it still made her blush for some reason. They had been together for months at this point and the littlest things still made her love for Robin grow.

"Go where?"

"To dance in the rain, silly!" Robin replied, jumping up and down with anticipation.

"Fine." Nancy jokingly sighed as if it were such an inconvenience.

Robin reached out and grabbed her hand, and pulled her out in the street. They spun in circles holding hands until a car wizzed by a couple feet away.

"Holy shit!" Robin says, with a huge smile and a rush of adrenaline.

"Come on Wheeler, let's run. I don't care where, just run." Not even waiting for a response, she grabs Nancy's hand and drags her down the street.

Neither of them knew, or cared, where they were going. As long as they were with eachother, they felt safe. They ended up in the middle of a field at the top of a hill. Robin threw herself to the ground gasping for air, Nancy beside her. Once they caught their breath, the girls looked at eachother and started laughing uncontrollably.

"You really are something Buckley. Something really special."

"And you're a priss Nancy Wheeler." She says with a bratty smile.

Nancy playfully shoves her, resulting in a real shove from Robin.

"You want a piece of me, Wheeler?" She jokingly says.

They rolled around pretending to fight for a solid five minutes until Nancy gave up, telling Robin she won, because she knew it would've never ended until she admitted Robin won.

Nancy looked at Robin admiring her beauty.

Robin crossed her arms.

"What."

"You're really pretty."

"Ugh shut up, Wheeler."

"And somehow I'm the priss?"

Robin rolls her eyes and leans in for a kiss. She felt like she wanted to stay in this moment forever. In a field, in the middle of a thunderstorm, laying on the ground kissing Nancy Wheeler.

Nancy pulled away first, resulting in Robin pretending to be offended.

"Why do you hate me so much?"

Instead of entertaining Robin's drama she kissed her again, shutting her up. She was scared to pull away this time, not wanting to disturb the angry beast that is Robin. So she let Robin pull away instead. They looked at eachother with the biggest grins either of them had ever seen.

"You're cute Nance."

"Shut up Robin." Nancy says, giving Robin a taste of her own medicine.

Robin rolled her eyes for the fiftieth time that night, and stood up, reaching out for Nancy's hand.

"Come on. I'm hungry."

"Anything for you, my princess, who deserves nothing but respect."

Robin flashed a childish smile at Nancy and the two ran back to the arcade where they ate fries and picked on Steve the rest of the night.
