YELENA
He kept me at arms reach, with his whole wrap pressing down onto my windpipe. If he wanted to show me he was in charge, that my life hung onto a thread, that he could end me by snapping my neck with a quick movement of his wrist. I knew all that and yet I chose to face him, to keep looking into his eyes trying to find a way to get thaw through his icy heart.
"Please," I begged. Holding onto his forearm, trying to pry myself out of his grasp was useless, he doubled, tripled me in strength and height. Standing on the tips of my toes did nothing, he adjusted and even pressed down further.
"Please, what?"
"I can't breathe." The glint in his eyes, the emptiness in them, he enjoyed this. This was the first peek into his darkness, the sadistic bastard had finally made an appearance.
Everything began to blurry, the ringing started and then I was back, my lungs expanding welcoming the oxygen in. My good arm was pressed onto his chest while keeping the rest of me at a safe distance. The idea of him being near me repulsed him but still, he didn't let me pummel him down by letting me almost lean onto him. What he doesn't know or can't tell is that his touch at the early stages feels just as good as the real deal. Well, the deal is doing something about it, actually giving in which I had never done with my kind.
I was afraid that it would attach me to someone and I wasn't ready for that.
The first time it had been bothersome, not knowing what it was until someone pointed out that I was behaving like a mad woman trying to pounce on every available male. Talks have been given about the fact that I couldn't control it and it was just a day I spent with a faceless boy I couldn't remember. Now I knew that when the smell of spice magnified and my core started boiling and anyone willing or available would do.
But not him, never him.
"Please, let me go." There wasn't an ounce of compassion in him, he didn't even know the meaning of the word.
"Tell me the truth, tell me who you are." I wanted to scream in frustration.
"My name is Lyanna, I was followed through the woods and climbed a wall and found myself here. You have to believe me, I don't know who you are." The desperation in my voice is real, but the words weren't. Knowing what's happening in the next couple of days means only one thing; death. I had to try again.
Telling the truth wasn't an option.
But I was as good as dead.
Mainly because I had trespassed onto a place you mainly needed to be invited in, ignored all the warnings about my curiosity, and then there was the treaty. The one where we went about our lives, he let us be without controlling us like he was supposed to as long as we respected everything that he represented.
Our world was different. He enjoyed the lavish parties but also kept control of it. Of all of us. Like a big monarch, like the king he was.
I lied to an alpha, I lied and also tried to touch him. To anyone else outside our world this thing, my current situation sounds silly, stupid even but our laws are final. They are engraved into our skulls from the moment we are born. There's an alpha in every house, in every town. My dad was the alpha of the family, and there was the Major Alpha who was the alpha of our pack or town, and then there was a Supreme Alpha, who was like the king of kings, the leader of all leaders. The difference between my father and him was that my
My stubbornness has carried me here, my family would be shamed but I feared they would never find out. There would be no trial, treason, and maybe if I was lucky a quick death.
"Well, Lyanna. You don't sound as convincing as you think and no, I cannot let you go. Do go back to your prison cell as you like to call it."
"No," I whined, I held tight onto him. My fingers dug into his arms. "Please, don't make me go back there."
He's looking down at me with the weirdest expression. Mostly likely because I'm begging, I'm begging with all my might. "I'll go insane if I stay there one more day."
"You have no right to make requests."
"You owe that at least. Your man broke my shoulder."
"And he will do it again if he saw you touching me." I'm stunned by the ice in his voice. It was true then, he had no heart, no compassion. He was as cruel as they said. "Who the fuck do you think you are?" His snarled. I stepped back, the way his eyes shone the vibration on his voice. Fool, you enraged him. "I told you. You have no idea the mess you've made by coming here. Spy or not. You're my prisoner now and I think I should start treating you like one."
I plummeted to the ground, hard. I didn't register him pushing away with too much force. from the floor, I watched stunned as he moved back to his desk and picked up the phone on it. His eyes never left me, not even when he slammed it back into place.
"It's time you learn your place."
Those were the last words he said in my direction. He switched his attention to whatever was on his desk he had dismissed me. I stood up slowly, my heart thumping slowly as it came to me that this was the last time I was going to feel sunshine on my skin. I didn't fight it when they came to get me or hesitated when they pushed me. or complained when they pressed onto my already sore shoulder.
It clicked right away where they were taking me; I forgot to count my steps. To look for ways to escape. Keeping my head low I gave in. Defeated, I felt the cold and uneven ground under my feet.
This was it, this was it.
Oh my god.
He wasn't lying about the dungeons but this was something more.
All the hairs of my body felt it, I felt it right away. There were other creatures down here. There were snarls and smells.
The place was heavily guarded, door after door, a key was needed, pretty high tech with cameras and keypads and access card. This pack had the money to back up their daily activities with enough tech. My brother would wet his pants. Wow, I had forgotten about Kyle. Thinking that I'd never see him again made the pain in my chest stronger. Mother and Father too.
"Walk."
I didn't belong here. If being locked inside that room had almost driven me up the walls this place was going to end.
"Stop. Don't move." I did everything they said, my eyes quickly adjusted to the dim light. There were several corridors and rooms, glass doors and then heavy metal ones. Bars from ceiling to ground. We walked for a long time until we stopped in front of a massive metal door. A small door in the middle, which I guess they used to slide things into.
A buzzing sound startled me, making me jump backward bumping into my angry escort. "Scared?"
Terrified.
A metal clang sounded from within the room and the door swung open revealing its tiny interior, just seeing where I would spend the rest of my day tears started to build up in my eyes. This is where he had sent me? This was where I was supposed to live my last days. No windows, a mattress on the floor, and something that looked like a make-shift toilet and sink. A single lightbulb hung from the ceiling from a questioning cable.
"Welcome home." Said my escort and pushed me in a little too hard. I fell hard onto my face, my forehead cracking onto the cold floor. The bang of the door closing behind me and the laugh that followed, made me move, in the dim light I examined my surroundings. The mattress had no cover and looked like it had seen better days. There was mold on it, most likely due to the humid air that was trapped within.
With much effort, I was able to get onto my feet. The sling had come loose with the rough manhandling I had just gotten in the last half hour. Testing the sore spot on my forehead there was a little damp stop, maybe a little blood and swelling had started. The faucet was not working at the moment, maybe it never did.
The cell was barely six by six and two extra tiles for the bathroom were separated by a thin wall. There was little water coming out and that was it.
Any flower would wither in a matter of days.
Flowers, I would never see flowers again, or the moon, or the stars.
