Traveling for the next two weeks, I'll try and write as much as possible!

Thank you for all the support, I cannot express how much it means to writers that readers interact/spread stories by word of mouth. We live on it!

Hope y'all like the chapter :)

***

The audience was loud, but your mind was unnaturally quiet.

With the combination of your earpieces and the beautiful nothing except fighting statistics and strategies, your brain was a blissful and silent emptiness.

Without thoughts of your own to fill in the missing holes, everything felt so much... easier.

All you had to do was play by the rules, and watch as your superiors' smiles fell into your lap like winning spoils.

Now, in your first match of the tournament, you were almost buzzing. After the HPSC had been so generous to let you use your quirk, winning would be that much sweeter.

The air was muggy and filled to the brim with sweaty shouts and leering eyes from the audience. But you didn't see that as you stood just inside the shelter of one of the hallways off the main ground of the arena.

Your eyes zeroed on the one box that mattered. In the midday sun, light glinted off the tinted windows of the HPSC's reserved box at the highest point of the stadium.

From your point on the ground, you couldn't see into the room, but you could feel all the eyes, waiting for you to step into sight. To make them all proud.

They were expecting a show.

You weren't about to disappoint.

After the thumbs up courtesy of a volunteer who jumped when you made eye contact with her, you stepped into view, cameras hitting you from every angle imaginable.

Yes, you realized, stepping onto the metal podium, the audience was loud.

Once your lips stretched into a crooked, smug smile; just mischievous enough to make the audience reel at the sight. They were like clay in your hands; moldable, manipulatable, unaware of their simultaneous position of power and lack thereof.

The noise swelled as you waved like some celebrity instead of a lamb sent to the slaughterhouse.

Something glinted in the corner of your eye, and when you turned to take another look at the HPSC box, everything inside came into staggering sight.

Your smile grew as you found Sakamoto and her attendant man that looked more like a mole in glasses. From the ground you sent up a lazy, two-fingered salute.

Her face remained impassive through the shield of glass. You swallowed.

'I'm so pleased with the way you've turned out, such bright young heroes we've made.'

"Our next match begins, hopefully even more spectacular than the last!" Present Mic's voice boomed, pulling you back onto your feet. "From the Hero Course, we have Kaminari Denki!" The crowd roared. "The up and coming hero's quirk allows him to generate electricity and emit it over great distances!"

Your eyes narrowed as you took a look over at your classmate.

Present Mic failed to mention how little control Kaminari had over said electricity. As long as you dodged the energy, he was manageable at worst and effortless at best.
