Venerated, damned and infamous
They slink around at sunset and dawn
Pharo's worshipped there nimbleness
Belly up sunbathing on your lawn.

A quiet companion, furry and soft
loyal and loving, forever your friend
Clustered trees they are aloft
Broken hearts and sadness they mend.

Oh how I love my cats, curled up on my feet
Independent but always there
In the mornings ready to greet
God's and goddess, bastets prayer

Black and silky, purring and kneading
My pookie , the little black cat
Curled in my lap listening to my reading
I'll miss you and our little chats
