"KKKKRRRRIIIIIINNNGGG!"

There goes the wretched alarm clock of Nica that I've always been wanting to throw out of the window any day now.

"Hey Jenny wake up!!"

"Mmmmh... What now? Let me sleep it's a Saturday remember?" I said while keeping my eyes shut.

"Come on, you gotta move! It's Dad's birthday you dolt! Didn't we talk about it before?" Nica said pulling me out from my sheets.

"Wha- but it's just five in the morning. Please let me sleep for at least another hour," I appealed.

"No you can't! We have to prepare his breakfast first before he wakes up," she said while pushing me into our bathroom.

"Oh fudge!!!"

It's as if cold water splashed onto me. I haven't had the time to buy the things I would be needing for the meal I'm going to prepare.

Hurriedly, I changed into my day wear and sprinted to our local grocer.

"Jen, your --," I heard Nica call at me but I didn't hear what she was going to say as the door closed behind me.

I paused and let me catch my breath for a while and checked the time: 5:15 AM.
Seeing the time, I hustled on to my destination.

A kilo of ground pork, eggs, potatoes, carrots, onions, chives...

I recited in my mind as I recall the ingredients of the meal I found during my search last night for something to cook for this special day.

I was in the middle of remembering the condiments I am going to need when I suddenly bumped into someone.

"Hey watch it!" I angrily said as I gathered myself from my fall. "Can't you see where you're going?!"

"I'm so sorry, I thought you saw me coming," said a guy whose face I can't clearly see. Apparently I now understand what Nica was shouting back at me earlier. I left my glasses back at the house for crying out loud.

"Are you okay, Jen? I am really sorry," he continues while dusting dirt off me.

"'Know what? I'm fine. I'll just --- Wait! What did you just call me?" feeling taken aback, I asked.

"Huh? Jen, don't you recognize me?"

I can seriously curse this eyes of mine for sucking to act as eyes at this point. Having a +400 eyesight can be disadvantageous at times, especially today in particular.

"Sorry I don't have my glasses on... Do I know you?"

Darn I'm running out of time!!!

"Huh?! It's me Nate, are you going somewhere?" he asked.

"I know a lot of Nate, which one are you? I'm off to the grocery. I'll have have to leave now," I said as I started walking to my destination.

"Uhm, Nate Ramirez, we go to the same class together--"

I stopped walking. How could I not recognize his voice? Feeling the blood rushed to my face and without looking back, I ran the hell away from Nate.
