Mark's BackstoryMark was not part a village. Years ago he and the rest of his village had left their only home, on the run.
He was part of a small group of villages called the Cradiators. Mark's parents never told him why but no one liked them. And the rest of the world , who were known as Mesitators, wanted them dead.
He had lived with his parents and most of his village always moving around to stay away from others. Sometimes families would branch off to "have a better advantage on hiding," they would always promise to come back but never did. Mark's parents would always say their just scared to come back but Mark knew the real truth.
One day their small group was ambushed, he was standing in his tent listening to the screams and the crackle of fire outside when his mother ran in. She told him that they had to go, that they had to branch off and go alone like some of the other families. So Mark listened.
They ran away from the small temporary village of tents with nothing but a small bag of food, water, and some clothes. They had escaped, but one day years later, specifically on Mark's 13th birthday the people had found them.
As his father was fighting them his mother came to him. She told him that it was time for him to go off alone so he would be safer. She told him to run, don't stop till he couldn't run anymore and he collapsed on the ground from exhaustion.
His mother promised him that she would find him someday later and they would live together again, and even though Mark knew the truth, he believed her. His mother kissed him on the head and sent him on his way. He listened to his mother. He ran he ran as fast and as far as he possible could without looking back. He ran even when he swore he couldn't and he didn't stop till he physically couldn't run anymore.
That was years ago though. Now he knew the real truth, he knew the real world from the fake one his parents used to explain to him. He knew his parents were dead and so was possibly the rest of his village.
In some ways his mother had been right. It was easier and safer to hide from the evil when you were alone and that's what he told himself, that's what kept him going... he never turned back because it was safer and easier that way...
