Drunk Dial

"Aargh .." Chavi cried out in pain . "So finally you are awake ! " Ishika whispered handing over a glass of lemonade to Chavi . "Why is my head aching so much ? " Chavi asked, taking the glass. Ishika started narrating "Last night you emptied the whole bottle of beer, I understand that you really had a bad day at work but dude you're a teetotaler . And guess what did you do when you were high .." . "What !!?? " Chavi shouted with her eyes wide open . "You drunk dialed him" Ishika replied . "Him ? " Chavi was shocked . "Samar" as Ishika uttered this word a wave of silence prevailed the atmosphere . "Tell me each and every thing in detail Ishu" said Chavi with an emotionless face .

( Last night .. )

"Stop it.. , Chavi you've had too much , let's go downstairs" ordered Ishika snatching the beer bottle away from Chavi. "No I wanna stay here, this view is so lovely.. " Chavi said in a stubborn tone and snatched the bottle back . "Lovely... , You know what I loved him .. but he didn't" Chavi recalled her love , in a sobbing tone . " I shouldn't have bought this bottle " Ishika murmured sitting aside .

Chavi grabbed her phone and searched for a number , Samar it read . She dialed.. after a few rings , "hello" came a loud attractive voice . "Hii Samar..." Chavi greeted . "Are you drunk ? " Samar could make out her slurred speech . "Why do you care so much when you don't love me" Chavi had a weeping tone . "I waited for you.. two bloody damn years.. that someday you will realise my love , but you kept on playing with my feelings"

Samar knew that Chavi is not in a condition to understand him now so he just kept quiet and listened . Chavi started again .. "You know how it feels when the one you love.. has no respect for your feelings , my heart ached Samar.. ". " I used to cry at nights.. for whom.. for you.. ". Samar was recalling the moments when he ignored her feelings and now he was feeling guilty . Chavi continued , "You knew that I liked you.. don't you ? , but you acted strange . We could have talked it out , that you don't love me.. but instead you choose to just vanish away from my life . You know what Samar you taught me the biggest lesson of my life.. not to expect anything form anyone because expections hurt the most.. " . Chavi disconnected the call threw the phone on the beanbag grabbed the beer bottle tightly and finished the last sip of drink . Ishika who was silent all this while rescued Chavi who had started crying from falling on the floor and took her to their room . Luckily their landlady was out of town else Chavi would have been in trouble for drinking so much .

( Present day.. )

"Why didn't you stop me ?? " asked Chavi "I would have but you had been holding all this mess for a very very long time and it needed to come out . And on top of that Samar also needed to hear.. what you went through all this while ." Explained Ishika . "Do I need to apologise to him Ishu ? " Asked Chavi confusingly sipping her lemonade , "No... no need let it be.. all this mess arised because of him" Ishika took her towel and went for a shower .

Chavi still not convinced by Ishu's words went to the balcony and redialed the last called number in her call logs . After a few rings , "hello" came from the other side , "hey listen I am so sorry for last night I was stressed about work and drank a bit too much" Chavi recited in one go . "Relax.. and you don't have to be sorry.. , infact I am sorry for not understanding you and your feelings , I know it's too late to say sorry but tust me I mean it " Samar had a guilty conscience. "I couldn't sleep all night , you know I thought that you're just infatuated , after a point of time you will find someone else but I didn't know that you had so much pain inside you . After Samar finished there was silence for a few seconds . Chavi breaking the silence asked "so.. no hard feelings from now ?" . "Not at all " Samar replied. Both of them smiled and utter a same word together.. "friends ? " . And an essence of laughter filled their rooms .
