Eighteen years old, Harlow Valeria Blake, moved to Mystic Falls. The house she bought was big enough for her to feel comfortable, but not as big as her old house, empty space made her feel more alone than she already did.
She had already enrolled herself in the high school, all she needed to do was wait for the school year to start tomorrow. Harlow decided to go to the Mystic Grill, a restaurant she passed on her way to her new home. She hoped that she could meet some of her classmates or make some friends.
As she walked into The Grill, Harlow felt electricity run through her, and the tattoo of her wings felt warm. She ignored it and made her way further inside, to the hostess desk, and was led to a table.
After she ordered, Harlow jumped in shock, two girls had rather abruptly sat down across from her.
"Hi, I'm Caroline and this is Bonnie, we've never seen you before. Are you new here?" the blonde one, Caroline, said when she saw that she had my attention.
"Yes I just moved here, I'm Harlow." as I shook her hand I noticed it, vampire. I didn't let on that I knew and turned my attention to the other girl, Bonnie, to shake her hand as well.
Witch. We stared at each other in shock, still holding hands, when Caroline noticed that something was wrong and we snapped out of it.
"Bonnie. Bonnie Bennett." she reintroduced herself, a Bennett Witch, how fascinating.
"Harlow Blake." I returned the favor.
"Am I missing something?" questioned Caroline.
"Blake witches are infamous, but I heard that the last of the line had been killed." Bonnie informed Caroline, then stated the last part as a question for me.
"No one really knows that I exist," I don't know why, but I felt like I could trust them, "My family considered me an abomination, because of how my
soul mark manifested."They didn't quite seem to know how to respond to a complete stranger telling them something like that.
Caroline burst, "That's horrible!"
That seemed to open the floodgates, a torrent of vitriol directed towards my family escaped as she ranted.
Bonnie didn't look very worried, so I assumed that this was normal, and waited for her to finish.
"Okay, I'm done. So, Harlow, are you going to be going to school with us?"
"Yes, I'm starting my senior year tomorrow."
Though it didn't seem possible, Caroline looked even more excited when she heard that, "So are we! I can't wait to show you around and introduce you to our friends."
Bonnie looked amused, "You're stuck with her now."
That didn't make Caroline look very happy, but I shocked all of us by replying.
"That doesn't really seem like such a bad thing."
Caroline looked awed, like no one had ever said that about her, and was about to respond when she got a text.
"It's my mom, she wants me home." she genuinely seemed upset about that, so I said something, hoping to cheer her up.
"You can go, I'll be fine, this just means that we'll have to exchange numbers so you can text me."
Caroline lit up. We exchanged numbers and her and Bonnie left, with a promise to meet up before school tomorrow.
"I have a feeling that things are about to get interesting."
