(New York, a few weeks later.)
'The world's going to end! We're all going to die!' A man standing on a street corner in a sandwich board proclaimed. 'The world is going to end, we're all going to die!'
Smiling Douxie flipped a coin in the air, and making it land in the man's cup.
'Not on my watch.' Douxie stated. Alice lifted Nari up off the footpath and placed her on their shoulders. Nari placed their hands onto Alice's horns and giggled happily.
'You better be right about that claim, Doux'.' Alice said, poking their partner on the shoulder.
'You know me, Alice. When have I ever been wrong?' Douxie said. Alice raised their fingers up, as if to count.
'Would you like me to list those times alphabetically or numerically?' Alice asked, grinning.
'Yeah, you're probably right. Now, how about we go to that pancake place Jim mentioned the other day for lunch?'
'Yeah, that sounds good to me!' Alice replied, taking his hand in theirs once again. 'You're paying, though.' Douxie laughed.
Oh, he could get used to this.
