Chapter 3

The next morning I woke up, thinking about Cole. Something about him was off, but I just shook it off. I got ready for school, it was Friday, so I was excited. I went upstairs to meet my mom. " Good morning," my mom greeted happily.
" Good morning," I yawned.
" I wanted to let you know that I have to go on a business in a few hours," my mom said.
" What why so suddenly?" I asked.
" I don't know, it was sudden. I know you don't like being home alone, I can get someone to stay with you?"
" No, I'll be fine," my mind went to straight to the boy from last night.... Cole.
" Mom do you know a boy named Cole? He lives on our road," I say looking down the street.
" No, I don't recognize that name, why?"
" I met him yesterday, he's about my age. Maybe no one mentioned him."
" Maybe so..... so a new boy?" She teased.
" Please," I said as I grabbed my bag to leave.
The day went by very quickly and I got home to see my mom wasn't there. I went to my room and opened my window, hoping Cole would be there.
" Well hello there," a familiar voice said.
I turned my head quickly, " How? What are you doing here??"
" Just was gonna say hi," he said.
I realized he was keeping a distance.
" J just find it weird that you were waiting for me," I said creeped out.
" Sorry, I could leave?" He said pointing down the road.
" No, don't," I said too quickly.
" Thought so," he smirked.
Oh no, his eyes. They were a deep brown, they were beautiful.
I shook my head, " My mom said she don't recognize your name," I pointed out.
" Oh well, maybe she missed meeting me.... I'm not really known well in this area," he stuttered.
" Oh ok," I noted the fear in his tone.
" Are you ok?" I asked worried.
" Yeah, I just.... Need to go do my homework," he looked scared.
" Oh ok, when will I see you again?"
" I don't know, I don't think it's a great idea to be around you," he said, turning to leave.
" What do you mean?"
" Nothing, don't worry, you can't know." He turned and ran away.
