Hey guys and welcome back to the third chapter of Just one promise. It seems that the lower my mood goes, the darker my story gets. My disclaimer is going to change (as you will soon see) and things are about to go from good, to bad, to ugly. I'm sorry this story took such a turn. I guess its due to stress and anger catching up with me. That and the fact that I'm going basically blind at age twenty.
Anyway, this is step three in the grieving process. This is where it is determined whether you will move on to step four, or head back to step two. Sometimes step three is so hard, that it knocks someone back to step one and they never leave either step one or two. This too, is where said person begins to bargain with themselves, others, sometimes even a god, or higher power. Promising to do better, or promising to be happy again if this higher power can give them back what they deeply want. This is the step that determines if one is ready to come to terms with said situation.
Sometimes the person fails to do both and without the proper support takes a different turn in their life that is dangerous and uncanning to said person. They become someone you no longer recognize.
This time around, I am looking for constructive criticism. From one writer to another. Does the story seem to be lacking in detail? Is it lacking in feeling? Do the situations seem unreasonable or unreal? Do the characters seem unreasonable, lacking in depth, or one dimensional? Please, anything constructive helps. I want to do better if there is a key detail missing that could make the story much better.
Disclaimers: Mentioning's of Suicide, divorce and death. Intentions of suicidal attempts or harmful actions. Mentions/intentions of bodily harm to another person(s). Mentions of mental illness.
3. Bargaining
The normal reaction to feelings of helplessness and vulnerability is often a need to regain control–
If only we had sought medical attention sooner...
If only we got a second opinion from another doctor...
If only we had tried to be a better person toward them...
Secretly, we may make a deal with God or our higher power in an attempt to postpone the inevitable. This is a weaker line of defense to protect us from the painful reality.

Chapter 3: Bargaining
Another month later, and something different came over Link. He started feeling hollow and unlike himself. Like he was disappearing and someone else was taking over. His house became spotless. There was never a single thing out of place. Not a hand print on anything. Whenever Jessie came over, he warned her that a thing better not be out of place when she left and that included the children touching anything. It was more of a threat then anything, and he could see the discomfort in the others eyes when he said this, but he didn't care at all. It was how the place was to remain. Another thing that changed was the people he blamed. He not longer blamed Jessie or Rhett for what had happened. He blamed those he knew were at fault. Christy. Her new play toy. The judge. The person who hit them. He himself still felt at fault for a lot of things but not like he did before. Because, he knew better now. That voice made sure of it. The voice was his reassurance. Because, if no one else would be, then he might as well listen to the one person, or thing, that would.
