"You find some real friends and you refuse to hang out with them. Who in the world does this?" Cynthia asks as she dramatically lifts her hands towards heaven and places them on her hips looking at me.

"A sensible person who is comfortable in their own boots.. or shoes" I say sipping in some hot chocolate.

"Come on , Mia. You're not living the rest of your teenage years sipping on something while reading boring books. What are you? 70 -something?"

"I'm 17-something completely ordinary teenager who is anti-social. You can talk about me, you can talk about my lack of confidence but if you talk about my books, you know I get pretty serious."

"Oh really? I thought 'ordinary teenagers ' meant the teens who hang out , go to parties and have fun. Poor me." She says as she sits on the edge of the bed.

Our room is half pink and half blue. The blue side is mine of course. But since I steer clear from exuberant decorations , my side is mostly empty. My sister's side though is decorated with lights , pink and fluffy bunny stuff. I never completely understood the purpose of decoration. I always thought people display things which speak about them. Does that make me nothing? Or just make me mysterious?

"You know I hate parties, Cyn. They are all filled with animals which haven't been discovered yet. And I'm not going to be one of them." I say standing up.

" You don't have to. Just take it as a challenge, Mia. I know you love to play the 'guess the personality game ' and drunkards are the best cards for you. Let's go, Mia. Please. For me ?" She looked at me with those sparkling hopeful eyes which was my weakness.

I had to give up. She was good at making points. I'm going to Becca's party only to study the various stages of transformation from a human to a mindless animal.

The party turned out to be way more wild than I'd expected it to be. The first thought that popped in my head. Why did I come here?

I lingered around the house trying to find a quiet corner. On my way upstairs, I came across a guy wailing on the floor about his dead fish.

"It was a good shade of yellow.. Very different from other Gold fishes.. I could see .. His very soul go to heaven." Well from that I conclude that drinking, sometimes makes you way too emotional.

As I opened the door to Becca's room, I noticed that I was not the only one who was trying to find some personal space.

Sitting on the glittery purple bed is a guy with light hair. He's got the surfer boy look. Dusty blonde hair, suntanned skin .... You get the idea. His skinny arms held a book with black cover.

"You mind if I come in?" I say as I stand at the door.

"Be my guest." He says as he turns towards me and I realise that this Surfer dude is Becca's brother.

"That thing in your hand looks like the book from Death Note." Death Note is a Manga series which revolves around a book that kills anyone whose name is written in it.

"Nah it's just a diary. What are you doing here? I thought you weren't the party hard type."

"I'm not and trust me I've been asking myself the same question the moment I stepped in." Just then someone increases the volume and I can feel the floor beneath me vibrating. Physics!

"I think I'm just gonna get out of here." I say as I head towards the door.

"I'm coming too. I'm not the party hard type either."

The mall is just a few blocks away from Becca's. It would be closed now. I am walking along the pavement with no intention of abandoning this beautiful quiet night. The air was filled with the sweet scent of flowers and the cool breeze indicated that winter is just days away. The navy blue sky was filled with millions of stars and it was truly breathtaking.

"That's the Orion." Surfer dude says pointing towards a cluster of stars.

"I don't think we've introduced each other yet. I'm Amelia. You can call me Mia." I say stretching out my arm.

"Mamma Mia , I'm Daniel. Call me Dan." He says shaking my hand.

At this point of time you might be wondering if this is going to turn into a romantic evening. Wrong! I'm not that kind of person. I'd rather sit all day with loads of homework than have a romantic encounter.

Dan receives a call from his furious sister and runs back home. Thank God! I now have the evening to myself.

I walk towards the mall and sit on one of the benches in front of the entrance. It's so quiet that I can hear the crickets cricketing from the abandoned park. What a wonderful way to spend your freedom!

I now have the time to analyse the events of today.
1. There are different types of drunkards.
2. They drink to forget their problems for a while which in other words is nothing but cowardice.
3. People attend such kind of parties to bring up their coolness among others as they fear oblivion.
4. Everything eventually comes to an end and so will you. Live your life the way you want.
5. It's your life. No one has the right to change it. Don't regret anything and regard it as a lesson.
6. Looks don't matter. You are perfect in your on way.
7. And lastly don't forget to LOVE YOURSELF.
