I woke up to the aroma of freshly prepared omelette, fried potatoes and grilled bacon.
Apo was singing in his melodious voice, infecting the morning with his happy vibes.
"Po..." I smiled as I walked to the bathroom.
Imagine waking up to this scenario every morning for the rest of our lives. Wouldn't it be wonderful?
I washed my face, used the toilet and took a quick shower. Then I brushed my teeth while recalling my love making moments with Apo. I suddenly had that feeling of jealousy about Apo.
I can't for a moment think of staying away from Popo. My protective instincts just set in. Apo can easily be anybody's dream lover.
But he's mine now.
The door to the bathroom opened and Apo walked in.
"Good morning P'Mile."
I spit out paste foam in the sink. "Good morning darling..."
"You're brushing your teeth."
"I usually brush before eating breakfast."
"Oh I eat before brushing..."
I nodded. "That is why you're Apo."
Apo laughed. He leaned on the door frame, crossed his arms and just watched me.
I was used to it, so I didn't bother asking him why he was staring at me. I rinsed my mouth and took the towel to wipe my face.
"I love you Mile."
I paused.
"Mile means so much to me."
"Po..."
Apo began to say in English. "Mile heart, Mile body, Mile love, Mile darling, Mile sunshine, Mile everything..."
"Oh you mean My, not Mile..."
"What's the difference My baby or Mile baby, OK no I think it's Mai." Apo said making a cute face.
I tried not to laugh. Apo had the cutest way of playing with English words. "Thank you for loving me, Po."
I rubbed my jawline. "Do you think I should shave?"
"No. You look good."
"OK. Come with me. Before we eat I need to get this off my chest."
I held Apo's hand and we walked back to the room. We sat on the bed and I let Apo sit beside me. I picked my phone and video called a number.
"Who are you calling?" Apo asked.
"You will see."
The call connected and my beautiful mom's face appeared on the screen.
"Maae, good morning," I greeted happily.
Apo quickly jumped out of my grip giving me the sign not to tell my mom he was around. I ignored him.
"How's Pa?" I asked.
"Mile, how are you? Paa is somewhere at the backyard."
"Oh did I wake you up?"
"No I was already awake. How are you doing? Are you alone? Nobody is making your hair and doing some makeup today?"
I laughed.
"Maae I'm on break. I am resting today.""Ok. What about baby Apo? Is been a while since I seen him. When are you bringing him home to visit? Mile, you just keeping him to yourself oiii..."
I laughed so hard. If only she knew Apo was right here.
"Will you be happy if I bring Apo home?"
"Why not?"
"Mae I mean it, I want to bring him home for real."
Apo kept signaling for me to stop but I continued.
My mom froze in the video for a minute. "I didn't hear you clearly, you said what."
I stood up and walked to Apo's side. I held his hands so he doesn't run off. My mom screamed at the other end.
"Pooooooo... Look at my baby. Mile give the phone to Popo."
I handed the phone to Apo. "You know my mom likes you."
"Maae Sawadee krub." Apo greeted acting all shy and cute while my mom was fangirling her life away.
"Where have you been? I keep asking Mile about you, and he says you're busy. Po don't work too much. Save some energy so you can take care of my Mile."
"I have been around. Mae..." Apo laughed.
"Mile says he's bringing you home. When is the date? Let me know so I can prepare your favorite."
Apo waved his hand in protest. "Maae... There's no date yet. Don't mind Mile. He's joking."
I hugged Apo from behind, wrapping my arms around his waist. "Maae, I'm serious. Apo is shy to admit." I dropped a kiss on Apo's neck and he flinched.
"Mile stop."
My mom raised her eyebrow and smiled. "Is MileApo real? Mile tell me before I find out from the internet!"
"Ma I just need your yes, to be with this beautiful man. What do you think about having him as your son in law?"
We heard a noise in the background and it seemed my mom dropped her phone.
Apo chuckled. "Stop. You're scaring her.""Mae are you okay?"
Her beautifully excited face popped up on the screen. "Yes. I'm okay okay. Please bring Apo home. Omg this is good news!"
"Thank you ma."
"I just want the best for you Mile. Apo take of my son. You know I will always be your number one fan. You guys better be forever."
I laughed. "Yes mae. Forever is the goal."
"Okay fix the date and let me know. Oh my god! Can't wait to tell my friends about this. Bye."
Apo and I waved before I disconnected the call.
"You heard my mom. She wants to see you."
I turned to see Apo walking quietly and sit on the bed. I moved closer to his side. His face suddenly looked downcast. "What's the problem?"
Apo leaned closer to me and hugged me. He buried his face on my bare shoulder and sobbed. For a second I was confused. Apo could switch from happy to sad to happy just like that.
"Did I say something that hurt you?" I asked.
"No..." Apo said softly.
I rubbed his back warmly. "You didn't expect my mother to accept you?"
Apo wiped his eyes. He nodded.
I cleaned his eyes. "Baby... Don't underestimate yourself. You're the best man right now. Everyone is talking about how handsome you are, how kind you are, how humble you are, you should be happy..."
"Sometimes I feel like I'm not doing enough to deserve all this."
My god... Apo
"You're doing more than enough. Po. You almost gave me a heart attack. There's nothing to be scared. My mom likes you, my family loves you. I adore everything about you. Just keep being Apo that's all I ask."
"Thank you."
"I like it when you're happy Apo."
I planted a kiss on Apo's forehead and he smiled. I could see that my words had somehow recharged him."You're the only person that ever cared for me genuinely. I can't deny how I feel about you. I honestly never felt loved by anyone like this before."
"What now, are you trying to recite the lyrics of a song?"
Apo laughed out loud. He caught the joke. I watched him holding his chest as he continued to laugh.
I smiled. It's all I ever wanted. Be the man to always put a smile on Apo's face.
