And I'm backSo! Trail ride...
Day 2.
This was the day after our other trail ride, meaning we were all a bit sore lol but it was awesome all the same.
This time, we went to a trail that none of us, including any of the horses, had been on before. It was one that my trainer had heard of from a friend, and she decided to take us.
So we loaded horses, drove to the trail (it was farther away than the last one), groomed, tacked, mounted, and off we went! This time, my sister went first with Cowgirl (my instructor thought this was best given how Cowgirl had acted the day before lol), my trainer next on Coyote, and then me. My brother was in the back because Duece is even slower than Coyote lol 😅
The second we got on that trail, we were blown away. It was stunning!! The weather was perfect, there were trees all around, and we had a beautiful view of the mountains, even from the trail. Unlike the other one, this one didn't have a big open space, but was mostly in a forest, with some parts going through a meadow. Because of this, we didn't lope until fairly later on in the ride.
So after we got out into the first little patch of open space, our trainer let us trot the horses a little. Jackpot had been doing awesome, except that he was annoyed that we were behind Coyote, of all horses lol. So he kept jerking his head around when I asked him to slow down (because Coyote is really prone to spooking, and I didn't want Jackpot to run up his butt and set him off).
So anyways, we got back into the trees and walked again. This trail definitely had a lot more people; and we even saw other horse riders, too, which was awesome.
After a while, we got to a part of the trail where there were trees, but no bushes; so you could see pretty well all around. So our trainer let us trot a bit here, since the visibility was a lot better.
Eventually, we reached a break in the trees, where there was a much wider path (that kinda looked like a dirt road except it obviously wasn't lol). Since there was more room, our trainer let us lope a bit, with me in the front.
Everything was awesome until I crested a hill in the path and suddenly saw a steep slope downhill on the other side, which you obviously shouldn't be loping down, so Jackpot and I skidded to a stop and I told my trainer about it.
We slowly walked down the hill, and eventually we realized that we had taken a wrong turn somewhere, and we were not on the trail anymore. Luckily, we saw a trail in the trees that the path cut through, so we rejoined it. However, we quickly discovered that this was some kind of cross country trail, because it had jumps in the middle of the path.
So then we turned right around, headed back the way we had come, and we saw a lady with a palomino horse. Thankfully, she was able to direct us back to the right path.
So we resumed our trail ride through the trees, and at one point we passed this group of children on bikes - there were so many, it was practically a horde lmbo 😆😂 But there was only one adult with them; I think he was leading some sort of camp or something lol.
Anyways, my trainer let me stay in the front of the group for the rest of the ride. We did do some more loping, but not much. We did trot a lot, though.
So that was it! My trainer's sister came with us again today with Tulip, but she went back to the trailer a lot earlier of course lol.
So that was a lot of fun. Even getting lost 😂 The whole thing was an incredible experience.
Hope you enjoyed reading lol!
Love y'all!!
