It was the day after the wedding, Valerie woke up to the noise of clanging pots. She woke up on the floor, her dress straps were lowered, Five was somehow above her.
She groaned and got up. Flashbacks from last night all began to flood in her head. Suddenly remembering she saw Reginald make a deal with someone.
She walked to a nearby room and sketched herself an outfit. She drew herself an outThey were all sat down, in some meeting their adoptive Dad called.
Everyone but Five was there, Valerie sat down on a chair. Five and Reginald walked in, everyone cheered for him.
"That speech last night" Diego smiled
"Brought me to tears you big softy" Lila added
"I especially liked when you referred to us as a family bound by destiny and love" Viktor said
"Okay enough" Five said
He sat down next to Valerie.
"It was the booze talking, in the light of day you're all still deplorable" Five added
"And your day's about to get worse" Reginald said
They all turned to him
"The Norse had seven sleepers. The Blackfoot, seven stars. As a boy, I heard the legend of the seven bells. All these stories are the same. The village is under threat, by flood, by fire by a night that never ends. A shaman brings his disciples to a sacred cave, he tells them if they can ring the seven magic bells, the village will be saved and all will be restored just as it was" Reginald stated
"Reggie, can we get a little less Brothers Grimm and a little more 'what the hell does this have to do with us?'" Lila asked
"There is a truth, to these myths. None of you can deny what's going on around us. All of existence will be gone by the end of the day but whoever or whatever wove together space and time, they left a way to put things back together. If the universe ever faced total annihilation" Reginald explained
Valerie glanced at Five, in a worried way.
"There is a portal in the universe. I built this hotel around it, and on the other side is the answer" Reginald added
"And.. we're supposed to what? Just stroll in there, ring some bells and fix this shit?" Luther questioned
"Sarcasm aside, you are mostly right. Except for the guardian" Reginald answered
"What kind of guardian?" Viktor asked
"Kinda guardian who does this" Diego said
He showed them his fingers, he lost two.
"He had a sword" Diego added
"It is a force to be reckoned with" Reginald stated
"See? Yeah, this is where you lose me" Luther said
"This is where he loses you? I checked out at the sacred cave" Lila said
"Why would the builders of this "back door" need to have a guardian?" Valerie questioned
"Ah! To protect it from people who want to use it for nefarious means" Sloane answered
"That is correct, Sloane" Reginald said
"So I guess it's gonna take all of us to defeat the thing that's protecting the bells" Allison said
"You're actually buying this crap?" Five asked
"How is a guardian and bells any crazier than time traveling briefcases and assassins with cartoon masks?" Allison sassed
"Actually she's got you there" Luther mentioned
