The Lucky Compass Episode two _____
Blair couldn't sleep. The compass had been weighing on her mind since the moment they found it. She turned over in bed for what felt like the hundredth time, staring at the glow of the stars on her ceiling. What if their dad didn't drown at sea? What if something else happened? It sounded crazy, but the compass—the same one their dad had always carried—had somehow made its way back to them. That couldn't just be a coincidence.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a soft knock at the door.
"Blair?" A familiar voice whispered.
Before she could respond, Kiara stepped into the room, closing the door behind her quietly. "Are you awake?"
Blair sighed and sat up, brushing her messy hair out of her face. "I am now. What's wrong, Kie?"
Kiara hesitated for a moment, then came over and perched on the edge of the bed. "Are you mad at me?"
Blair blinked, confused. "What are you talking about?"
"Earlier. With John B." Kiara fidgeted nervously, her hands twisting in her lap. "I wasn't thinking when I kissed him on the cheek. I don't want you to feel weird about it. I mean, he's your brother."
Blair leaned back against the headboard, exhaling. "I was annoyed," she admitted. "But honestly? I'm over it. It's not a big deal."
"You sure?" Kiara asked cautiously.
Blair nodded. "Yeah. It just caught me off guard. But we're good, I promise."
Kiara visibly relaxed, smiling softly. "Thanks. I didn't want it to be a thing."
"It's not." Blair waved her off, but then frowned. "Where are the guys, anyway?"
"Who knows?" Kiara rolled her eyes. "Probably off getting into trouble somewhere. But we've got a shift in the morning, so I figured I'd make sure you were still alive."
"Ugh, don't remind me." Blair groaned, flopping back onto the mattress dramatically.
"Come on, drama queen." Kiara smirked, grabbing the edge of the blanket and tugging it off Blair.
"All right, all right!" Blair said, dragging herself out of bed. "But if I'm cranky, I'm blaming you."
Kiara laughed, already heading toward the door. "What else is new?"

Kiara and Blair's day at work had been uneventful—until Pope's text came through:
Poppy: Meet at the chateau immediately.
Without hesitation, the girls clocked out, hopped into Kiara's parents' car, and headed straight for the château. As soon as they walked in, they were greeted by the sound of JJ's animated rant echoing through the room.
