It was noon when I was sitting on the couch quietly watching TV when I suddenly heard my stomach rumbling signaling that I was hungry. Barely forcing myself to stand up from the couch, I lazily wandered over to the fridge only to find it completely empty. Well, not quite empty, actually, but it was just long-expired cans, so I wouldn't have touched it for anything. I sighed heavily at the thought of going to the grocery store. My stomach was singing its pitiful, hungry song again.

~Time Skip~

After thanking the cashier, I lifted two full bags of food with difficulty and walked towards the exit of the store. The weight of those sacks made me wonder if I would be able to carry them home. Once again I put the bags on the floor to give my numb fingers a little exercise, again grabbed the handles of the bags, which were flaring from the heavy weight, and walked towards the sliding door.

Halfway through, I couldn't feel my hands at all, when suddenly my shopping bag burst open, and all the products were scattered on the cold and wet pavement leading along the park. I cursed silently and began to stumble to my knees picking up the water-soaked purchases from the ground when I heard a man speak.

"Hey, I see you're not doing very well with these bags, if you'd like I could help you carry them."

When I turned around, I saw a fairly young man, about my age, with blond hair, holding a case of wireless earbuds in which he had just inserted his second earpiece.

"That would be great, thank you a lot" I said with a small chuckle, still gathering the scattered items into the cloth bag I always carry for emergencies like this.

He helped me collect food from the ground and picked up an unbroken bag from the asphalt. While walking, we got to know each other a bit, and found out that we have a lot in common. We talked about the life around us, and as we got into the conversation, we didn't notice how we were already at the entrance of my house. He handed me a bag of produce that suddenly weighed down my arms and the young man laughed.

"Thank you for helping me with those, uh..."

"Bang Christopher Chan, but just call me Chan haha"

"Thank you again Chan. By the way, I'm Y/n L/n, but just call me Y/n" I smiled.

"That's a beautiful name.. Y/n" Chan gave a dimpled smile as he said this. "Also, would you like to go out for coffee together sometime? Or to meet somewhere, even in this park. What would you say?"

I happily agreed, because until now I had not really had to communicate with anyone, except to get angry with my colleagues, or exchange a few words with the neighbors. They also answered coldly, as if silently hoping in their minds that I would disappear from their sight as soon as possible.

We exchanged numbers to make contact easier and said our goodbyes.

"It was really nice to meet you Y/n!" Chan waved with a cheeky smile while going the other way.

"It was! Thanks to the my weak hands!" I shouted waving at him as he laughed loudly enough for me to hear it.

I followed his receding figure with my eyes and dragged the bags into the hall slamming the door. As I loaded the products onto the wooden shelves, I caught myself smiling. My cheek muscles even hurt from probably smiling too long.
