Alexis was fuming. She opted to wait outside of the station, knowing that if she needed to she could take a walk. She knew Steve was a douchebag, she knew that he was mean and cruel and awful to people that his family deemed "unfit", she knew that it was all learned behavior that didn't excuse his actions. She knew all of that. But she also knew that he never showed that side of himself around her until recently. It shocked her, how big the 180 was from the Steve that would bring her company during slow shifts at the Radio Shack to the Steve that insulted an entire family an borderline made fun of a supposed death.
She wanted Radio Shack Steve back.
Then she remembered the task she gave the boys earlier.
"Shit," she muttered to herself before slightly limping her way into the station.
"Hi, can I use one of your phones?" She asked the lady at the desk. When the woman simply nodded, she breathed out a 'thank you' before moving to an unoccupied desk.
"Come on. Pick up, pick up, pick up," she whispered as the phone rang.
"Hello?" It was not the voice she had hoped would pick up.
"Oh, hi Mrs. Wheeler. It's Alexis," she greeted, hiding the disappointment and worry in her voice.
"How many times have I told you to call me Karen?" The woman laughed. "What can I do for you?"
"Oh, well I was hoping I could talk to Mike?" Alexis prayed that nothing was wrong, and that the boy was just busy.
"I wish you could, but he and Dustin just left in quite a hurry. I can take a message if you'd like?" Alexis smiled at the woman's offer.
"Uh, no thank you. I appreciate the offer. I'll just find him later," the teen denied.
"Alright then, goodbye dear," Karen stated.
"Buh bye," Alexis returned before hanging up the phone.
"Boys, you better not be doing something stupid," she mumbled. She got up, needing to go back outside.
"Thank you, for letting me use one," she thanked the woman. All she got was a nod but appreciated the communication. She was outside for not even five minutes when a car pulled up. Out came Joyce and Hopper.
"Alexis?" Hopper asked, "What the hell happened?"
"Steve Harrington's a jackass, that's what happened," she answered with a scoff. "Jonathan's inside," she told Joyce. She didn't look at the woman, hearing Steve's words in her head made it hard to look at anything but the ground. She followed Hopper and Joyce in, being last in line.
"Hey, Jesus Jonathan. What happened?" Joyce's voice rose a tiny bit, being more confused than anything. Officer Callahan rose from his seat.
"Ma'am..." he started. Alexis never did like Callahan, he never seemed to actually care about the people, really only caring about the shiny badge and the siren.
"I'm fine," Jonathan interrupted.
"Why is he wearing handcuffs?" Joyce asked Callahan.
