Hello, everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I am also writing an Edgar Valden x Reader fanfiction as it was very requested! The prologue is already written and posted! Definitely check it out if you're interested!
Also sorry for the slow updates, depression has been giving me a hard time and I barely have any interests anymore. Still, I'll try hard to finish this story.

The map was "Leo's memory".

«Okay let's focus, Y/N.» you thought to yourself.
"Cipher, I need a cipher." saying out loud, you started looking for said machine "There!".
You heard the machine already working, you hoped to see Helena there but turned out it was Mike, the Acrobat.

"Oh uhm.. hey Mike! Mind if I join you?" you asked nervously.
"Of course not, N/N, decode with me!" he responded, as if nothing had ever happened.

You decided to not be quiet about the whole situation you all were going through "So.. I saw you and Luca talking.. he seemed odd... what were you talking about?" you then looked away from the cipher into Mike's face.
He didn't look like his joyous self, he was not smiling.

Upon realising you were looking at him he put a smile in his face. A painfully obviously fake one. "... About you.. of course.".

"About... me. Can you be more specific..?" you proceeded. You didn't like the fact that you were questioning your friend that way but it was necessary.

Mike snapped, stopping his cipher decoding progress and looking you in your eyes "You two like each other! It's so obvious, Y/N! How can you be THIS oblivious. It's not fair!". He then realised what he just said and looked back down at the cipher, his face read, just like yours.

"Not fair? What do you mean?" you asked seconds after the deadly silence that filled the atmosphere.

"... first of all, I'm sorry for yelling. Second.. Y/N, I like you. Romantically, but so does Luca. And who do you like? Luca, not me. And... all I want is to see you happy, even in this hell hole. And if that means that you have to be happy with Luca, then so be it. But you don't even realise you like him, and I know you do, you just never thought about it. So I'm helping you." he finished.

You were speechless.

You liked Luca Balsa.

And he liked you back.

Mike liked you.

And you liked... Luca.

You didn't see Mike as any more than your best friend.
That was painful.
For both of you now.

"Mike... I'm... sorry..." you managed to say.

"Oh don't be sorry!" Mike smiled... while tears fell down his cheeks "I'm happy for both of you, N/N, truly.".

His words were honest, but it still hurt him for sure.

You hugged him, giving him confort, though he cried louder.
Some seconds passed, ending the hug eventually.
You both then smiled to each other.

But you were interrupted.
"The hunter is after me." you both heard Luca speak through the communicator.

"Do you need help?" Mike said as he wiped his tears.

"I could use some assistance, yes. Ann is har- OH DEAR LORD COME HELP ME- I'M AT THE BIG BUILDING!".

"You finish the cipher, I'll go help him." Mike started to leave. And in that same second you finished the cipher.
"I'll go with you!" you smiled.
Mike smiled back and you started running towards where Luca said he was, the big building in the center of the map.
