Chapter 16

"There's actually a lot of us!" you looked around to see Luca, Mike, Emily, Eli, Emma, Vera, Fiona and surprisingly Naib with you!
"Yes! Shall we get going?" Luca offered you his arm.
"Such a gentleman, Mr. Unique." you laughed and linked your arm with his, feeling the warmth and confort of his touch, through his stripped shirt.

Emily and Vera whispered to each other and laughed kindly, looking at you and Luca. Fiona apparently heard what they were saying as she smiled cutely. Emma was petting Eli's owl.

"Get a room, you two." Naib said in a harsh tone, but meaning it as a joke.
"There there, no need to be rude! They are just friends. Nothing else." Mike told Naib, loudly.
"Jeez..." Naib said quietly so only Mike could hear him "I was joking.".

Luca rolled his eyes and started walking, obviously with you.
"Come guys!" you looked back, smiling at all the survivors there "We don't want to be late!".
Mike started walking right away, catching up with you two, and the rest of the group did the same.

You all left the mansion. You felt tired.

Stepping outside, with the soft yet bright light of the moon upon you, you made the startling realisation - whatever had originally been here, seemed to have been ravaged by fire. You looked back at the structure, watching its outline, blackened and crumbling, completely exposed to the elements.
"Well that's... a little creepy..." you mumbled to yourself "This place looks like it was burned ages ago...".
"Is everything okay, Y/N?" Luca asked you, noticing your somewhat confused look.
"Yes, it's fine..." you were still looking back to the way you came from.

The air on this place was so thick and it smelled like ash, completely different from the garden, on the opposite side of the mansion. You covered your mouth with your sleeve, coughing a little.

Luca checked your temperature with his palm "Are you sure you're feeling alright?".
"N/N? Are you okay?" Mike asked, also preoccupied.
"Yes, really. This place just has a very different vibe from the mansion and the maps... This feels weird.".
"True..." Naib stated "This does look decrepit.".
A deadly silence filled the spot, as you all contemplated the awful landscape.

It had to be Emily to bring the conversation back again:
"Well, we're almost at the meeting spot, but if you're not feeling okay I can go back with you." she kindly touched your forehead "Well, I don't think you're sick, but it's up to you, dear.".
"No, really!" you smiled "It's okay! Let's go!".
"Alright then!" Emily showed you one of her gentle smiles again, filling you with hope.

You narrowed your eyes, seeing Robbie and Luchino from the distance.
"There they are!" you waved at the little boy, who was already jumping and waving at the group of survivors.

"Our Champ!" Luca made a warm smile as he saw Robbie and faced you, also showing a smile. You enjoyed these little moments you two had.

Luchino stood up "Good night to all of you." he grinned.
You all said good night back.
Even though you weren't really confortable with his company after the match you had with him, you still wanted to be respectful and try to sympathise with the lizard.

As you played board games, some riddle games and some truth or dare here and there, you were overwhelmed with a wave of nausea.
The world around you was spinning and your footing suddenly became unsteady.

"Woah there!" Naib sustained you "Are you okay?".
"N/N!" Mike ran to you. Luca and Emma did the same.

"Give them space!" Emily shouted.

Eli helped Naib sitting you on the ground and they both supported your back, while Emily checked her pockets, looking for something.

"Is big sibling Y/N okay?" Robbie asked innocently.
"I think they might be just tired, Robbie. It's rather late and they aren't probably used to have such full days with exhausting activities." Luchino deducted, always grinning.

"Emma!" Emily signed something to her.

Emma pulled a small flashlight from her pocket and turned it on (there wasn't much light at this moment. Only the moonlight and the weak radiation coming from a small candle you had set up). It made Emily's job much easier.

"Can you hear me, Y/N?" Emily asked you.
"Yes... My head hurts..." you rubbed your forehead weakly. It was just so devastatingly heavy.

Emily finally pulled out a small vial of pills. Painkillers, you assumed.
"Do you have any allergies?"

"Not that I know of." you said, watching as your friend took a couple off the vial.
"Take these, you should feel better right away. Then again, Luchino must be right. You must be exhausted.".

You couldn't deny it, this day really drained your energy. It felt good though, but still fatiguing.
You felt your headache slowly beginning to subside.

"I'll take them to their room." Naib offered.
Emily nodded and Luca and Mike said in unison "I'll go as well.".

Emily sighed "Naib please do take them to their room." she turned to Luca and Mike "You two can stay. Let Y/N have their own space.".
Eli helped you get back up as Eli put his sleeves back, ready to help you.
"You're in good hands." Eli told you, so you could relax.
"Thank you." you smiled at those kind words.

Naib looked at you, unsure on how to help you on your way.

You felt your eyes get heavier and heavier, probably sleepiness.
"Hey hey!" Naib laughed "C'mon, Y/N, you can't sleep here!".

You slowly laughed, trying to stay awake, but your voice faded, and so did your vision, until it was engulfed in black and you could no longer control your movements.
