Chapter 2

"This is our new teammate her name is..." I cut her off a smiled blooming on my face.

"Hi, I'm Sandra McCloarch. Nice to meet you Alvin" I couldn't help but stare at him with his good looks were captivating.

"Hi, I'm Alvin Schwarzenegger. Nice to meet you too Sandra" he responded, his voice warm.

I felt my cheeks flush suddenly Drake ever the interrupter chimed in.

"I've been wondering what those Lickers look like" Alvin walked over to his desk stopping beside Drake's.

"Well, I'm sure you'll be stunned when you see them" he said, a mischievous grin on his face.

His smile... It was like a magnet drawing me in I had to fight the urge to tell him how I felt how he made me want to throw myself at him.

I hadn't even realized how intensely I was staring at him until Yoo-mi whispered.

"Why don't you tell him how you feel?" I turned to her, my cheeks burning.

"It's pretty obvious, isn't it?" I muttered, my lips tingling from biting them.

She just nodded a knowing smirk playing on her lips suddenly a piercing siren blared through the air five sharp rings followed by a silence that hung heavy in the air.

Something was wrong the lab... I shuddered I was grateful I wasn't there the lab was a dangerous place here at least.

I could learn be safe even if I had to endure Nathan's infuriating presence.

"What the hell is going on?" Yoo-mi asked, her voice tight with worry.

Ake ever the peacemaker tried to calm her down just then a phone started ringing it was the rude guy I knew he wouldn't answer it he just glared at us.

Then Alvin's voice boomed across the room.

"Answer that damn phone!" Wow his voice was powerful commanding I tried to focus on that to block our the unsettling feeling I had.

"Hello Dr. Anderson is everything okay there?" Nathan answered the call.

He blasted the speakerphone and we all heard Dr. Anderson's voice.

"I need you and your team to get here now" Dr. Anderson said, sounding frantic.

"Okay Dr. Anderson we're on our way" Nathan said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

"Take your time don't rush" Dr. Anderson said, his tone oddly calm.

What the hell was going on?

One minute he's desperate the next he's telling us to take our time?

We gathered in the gun room my eyes immediately landed on the ARX 160 a sleek and beautiful weapon.

"What do you want?" I asked Nathan, my arms crossed as he approached me with a bulletproof jacket.

"Wear this" he said, handing it to me then he grabbed a gas mask and hurried out.

"Why the gas mask?" I stared at him, suspicious.

"Dr. Anderson said we should wear them before we go in, and becareful with that thing" he said, referring to the ARX 160.

He turned back a grimace on his face.

"I know what I'm doing" I retorted, my voice sharp.

I grabbed the ARX 160, a box of bullets and stuffed them into my bag.

"Are we all ready?" Nathan asked, looking at everyone except me Yoo-mi walked over her eyes gleaming.

"Wow nice taste, Sandra" she said, giving me a thumbs-up.

"Are you sure you can handle that?" Nathan narrowed his eyes at me.

"Are we all ready?" Nathan asked, looking at everyone except me.  Yoo-mi walked over, her eyes gleaming.

"Wow, nice taste, Sandra," she said, giving me a thumbs-up.

Nathan narrowed his eyes at me. "Are you sure you can handle that?"

"Yes, moron, I know how to use it," I snapped. "My dad taught me."

Drake chimed in, "I'm not worried about her.  She's got this."  He gave me a supportive smile, and I returned it, knowing he was my true friend.

Nathan rolled his eyes. "Whatever.  Let's go."

We piled into three cars, Drake driving the first, Nathan the second, and his friend the third.

The drive to Zaballero Mansion, Lucena City, Quezon was agonizing.
