Resident Evil Shadow of Rose (Book 1)

Chapter 6

We had to move quickly every minute counted.

"Are you okay, Korean Girl?" I asked, my voice a bit strained.

"Can I sleep on your right shoulder, Patient Seven, please?" She looked at me, her eyes wide.

Damn, what about her boyfriend?

He'd be jealous I sighed closing my eyes.

After a few minutes later on a familiar voice startled me awake.

"Rose, wake up, it’s time for school" the woman said.

I sat up my heart racing I looked around the room then walked to the mirror but I couldn't see my reflection clearly.

Why was my hair blonde?

My eyes were green with a hint of blue.

This was it back in this house with these two strangers who kept calling me Rose.

If I died here there would be no solution no way out I had to find a way to escape.

I spotted a letter on the floor 'You should skip now' the front door felt ominous.

"But how do I skip in this house?" I muttered to myself.

I waited hoping for more clues after a few minutes later on the letters reappeared, 'Through your window' my window?

I looked at it a wave of anxiety washing over me.

The letters appeared again, bolder this time 'Open this and you can skip' I slowly opened the window and started to run.

As I ran the letters appeared in every house I passed urging me on 'Keep running and don't stop'.

Then a familiar voice cut through the air "Rose, come back here you little fool!"  They knew I'd skipped.

I ran faster my heart pounding.

"Sweetie, stop running, daddy's won't hurt you," another voice called,

I ducked into a backyard trying to hide the letters reappeared 'Don't trust K' I didn't even know who K was.

Should I trust these letters?

'Anyway, hide now' the letters instructed.

Hide?

Where?

"So where should I hide?" I whispered, my breath coming in ragged gasps.

I could hear footsteps approaching they would catch me!

The letters appeared again pointing with an arrow 'Follow my arrow'.

I followed the arrow, my heart pounding.  It led me back to the same house.

"I don't want to go back there" I muttered.

This was insane!

'Trust me, you are safe in there' the letters promised.

I took a deep breath and walked toward the house.

As I reached the door I heard the woman's voice echoing through the house, if Rose that was my real name.

I knew I couldn't stay here I quickly opened the front door and shut it behind me.

I was already having a flashback a sense of eerie familiarity, this was my parents house this was where I was a baby.

The letters reappeared 'Take time to look around the house' I walked to the kitchen.

My dad had been a wine drinker.
