Ankhesmaaten sat in her chambers as servants brought in piece by piece, her wedding gifts. Sighing, she directed where to put all the gifts. She'd been at it all morning. She jumped up as the guards announced that her husband wished to enter her chambers. She ran to him and embraced him. "My love, you have kept away from me too long." Amenhotep IV sighed, "my duties kept me from you." "No, Nefertiti and Kiya kept you from me," Ankhesmaaten pouted. "Part of my duties, dear one. But I promise you that you will have my undivided attention for a long time. Kiya has started her menses and Nefertiti is pregnant." "So the queen has won once again. And now she will bear your heir, and I will be nothing," Ankhesmaaten wailed. Amenhotep IV waved the servants out, before turning back to her. Grasping her by the shoulders, he kissed her. Picking her up, he carried her to the bed chambers and laid her on the bed. "My love, you will never be nothing to me. Pulling up her skirt, he entered her swiftly.
Afterwards, as Ankhesmaaten dozed off, Amenhotep IV left her chambers to head to his own. When he got there, Nefertiti was waiting for him. "So you've gone and comforted the lesser wife. Does she know of my triumph?", Nefertiti said smugly as she rubbed her small bump. "I informed her. I dont know why you hate her my sweet. She is my sister and now my wife" Amenhotep said in exasperation. "It was an insult to have Kiya join with you. She became a wife when she should have been a concubine. It became a greater insult to have Ankhesmaaten join with you. 3 wives in less than 3 years. Each wife lessens my power. But now i shall bear you a son, after having a beautiful daughter. And i shall have many more sons. Come, take me, and strengthen the power of our son," Nefertiti said holding out her hands. "The priest stated it would be bad for our son if i was to lie with you. I lay with you many times during your last pregnancy, and she was born a girl. I will not lie with you until after the birth," Amenhotep IV said. Nefertiti pouted, but did not press the issue. Amenhotep IV called a servant to draw him a bath. "Will you join me my dear?"
The next morning, Ankhesmaaten woke up to an empty bed. Scoffing to herself, she called for a servant to bring her breakfast. A tray of figs and other fruits were brought to her. As she sat eating them, she contemplated her situation. 'Married to the Pharoah for less that a month and already ignored. She must think of a way to get his attention. It didnt help that Nefertiti had wormed her way into bearing another child. That was it! She would pray to Bast to help her bear a child as well. And she would have the priests prepare her fertility potions. She would get pregnant, and it would be a son.' Smiling to herself, she continued eating her breakfast, cheered up. After she had finished eating, she summoned Maat, her trusted handmaiden. "I want you to find a priest and arrange a meeting in my chambers." Maat nodded and hurriedly left her chambers in search of a priest.
A few hours later, Maat returned with a priest. He bowed to Ankhesmaaten before saying, "What may I help you with, your Highness?" "I need you to make me a supply of fertility potions. And to say special prayers to Bast so that I may become with child. It would be in your favor, certain treasures would be given to the temples, and a monetary donation in your pocket", Ankhesmaaten said with a smile.
