Grace Wheeler was a normal teenager living in New York. She lived there with her mother and younger sister, Hope. Well, until the beginning of 1985, when her father killed himself. The blonde girl kept blaming herself for that, just because a few days before, she had a fight with him. However, a few weeks after the funeral, their own house was taken away from them and they had to move somewhere else. Her mom decided to move to their family's house in small town in Indiana called Hawkins.
