On June 12th, 2018 I got a call from a dispatcher, who talked to a caller. The caller was named William Hobbs. He sounded like he was in the mid to late 20s. He claimed that he just committed a murder. He stabbed the victim 50 times in the chest. I rushed to 167th St. Jamaica, Queens NY. I called for back-up because I did not know if he was still there, because he ended the call.
When I got to the crime scene, it was too late. I saw this guy laying there with liquid all around him. It was blood all around him, and also knife wounds on his back. There were no trace of someone else, no footprints on the gorund and no murder weapon. I started to look around the crime scene to see if there were any cameras that might have gotton something. However there was none. I went back to the body to inspect it closer because I could not wait for the forensic team to come. First I searched the body for an ID. There was a wallet in his left back pocket, I opened the wallet. The victim was James Bayley.
Jams Bayley was 17 years old. There were no signs of struggle, but his eyes showed that he has been terrified. Something has spooked him, but what? The blade he was stabbed with was 3 inches (7,62cm) long. The knife was stabbed straight ahead so the blood has gotton on the suspect. I went around the neighborhood to see if anyone saw or heard anything. However there were no luck.
The next morning (June 13th)
I opened my computer and searched for William Hobbs, our main suspect. Nothing came up on that name. No fiels from the priecincts nor hospitals. It is like he has not been registered as an US Citizen. However I did not have time to get further into it. I then searched up our victim. James Bayley. His mom's name is Ellen, and his dad's name is Charlie, they were pretty standard folks, they had good jobs and well payed once too. He also had three siblings. James went to Stuyvesant High, and lived at 130 Lenox Acenue Harlem NY. When I knocked on the door Charlie his dad opened up.Can I help you with anything officer? He asked.
Hey sir. I'm officer Michaelson. Are you Charlie Bayley? I asked.
Yes, I am. May I ask what's going on officer? He asked.
I'm here to talk to you about your son James. I said.
What about him? Is he okay? He asked, worried.
He is okay, just some of his friends haven't seen him for a while, so I thought maybe he went on a trop and forgot to tell them. I said.
Yeah, that does sound like something he would do. But he hasn't told us anything. He said.
Maybe you guys can come up with a place he might be? And would you mind letting me in? Perhaps something in his room might give me any ideas on where to find him. I said.
Yes sure, just com in. I'll go and get my wife. He said.I know I lied about his son, however I thought it was the right call due to the fact that we do not know who the suspect is, since it did not come up anything on William Hobbs. I walked in the house and they had a lot of valuable things. I looked around to see if I found anything odd, but they seemed fine. Personally I hate when people looks clean, because it either means that a) they are hard to crack, b) they have a lot of money, c) they are smart and/or d) they are just good people. When I was done looking around I sat down on their couch, I heard his wife started to cry. Typical mothers overthinking things, however she was right. I was impatinent because I wanted to find the killer so I asked if he could come down so I could start with the questioning.
Hello mam. I'm officer Michaelson. I would like to ask tou guys some questions. I just want you to know that you don't have to answer all the questions, and you can take a break or I can leave at any time you want. So ready to start? I asked.
Yes, I understand. Thanks, but can we do this quickly? I must get my kids to School. The father said.
Yes. When was the last time you saw James? I asked.
We saw him yesterdat at dinner. He was going to meet some friends. The mother said.
Do you know who he was going to meet? I asked.
He was going to meet Samantha, his girlfriend. Are they okay? The father asked.
Do you know where Samantha was going to meet him? or perhaps where she lives? I asked.
She lives over at 147th St. Jamaica, Queens. The mother said
Do you know if anyone wanted to hurt your son? I asked.
No. No everyone loves him. He is a good guy. The mother said.
He is a good student, he has many friends, and plays football aswell. The father said.
Are you sure no one would hurt him? Maybe he made someone mad once and someone wanted to take revenge that went south? I asked while I looked directly at the father.
Him and his firends jokes a lot, but they would never hurt him. Can you please tell me what's happening? The mother asked, as her voice got shaky and eyes watery.
He was found dead this morning. Unfortunately I can't give you guys anymore details right now. Here is my card if you guys come up with anythingn and if you have any other quesyions feel free to ask. I said and stood up.We said goodbye to each other, and I showed myself out. I drove from Harlems to Jamaica, Queens to see if Samantha was home. When I got there I knocked on the door. There was this layd in her early 20s who opened the door.
Hey mam, my name is officer Michaelson. Are you Samantha Broadway? I asked.
Yes, I am. Is everything okay officer? She asked.
I'm here to talk about your boyfrined James Bayley? He was going to see you but he never came, right? I asked.
Oh, well he was going here but i cancelled on him. Do you know where he is? He's not answering my text or phone calls. He might be mad at me for canceling. She said.
May I ask why you cancelled on him? I asked.
I got in a fight with my dad over the phone, so I wnet to him 'cause I felt bad after our fight. James said it was okay and that he was going to walk back home. She said.
Is everything okay between you and your dad now? I asked. while giving her a comforing smile.
Yes, we are okay. Thanks for asking. She said.
That's good to hear. And I'm sorry to say thig but your boyfrined, James is dead. I said.
Are you sure he's dead. What happened? She said as she started to hold in her cries, but she could not stop her tears.
He was killed last night. Do you know if anyone would ever hurt him? I asked.
I don't know anyone, he's a good guy. Try to check his school. He goes to Stuyvesant High. She said.
Thank you for your time, here is my card if you come up with anything more. Stay safe, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. You should probably be with someone that you feel comfortable or safe with. If you want, I can drive you to your dad? I asked.
Thanks, but no thank you. I will be okay get there myself. Hope you have a good day sir and I hope you find who did this to him. She said, as she wiped her tears away and closed the door slowly, while giving me a sad smile.I could hear her sobbing through the door and it stinged. I shook the feeling off and continued to focus on my work. I went back to the car and drove to Stuyvesant High. I went to the principal's office and asked where I could find the team, she showed me to the gym. I went in and there were a few people on the team, and they all looked at me with a shock. I just smiled at them and waved at the coach to come to me.
Whats going on officer? He asked.
My name is officer Michaelson. I want to speak with you and your team. I said.
Hey gather up girls. He said, as he blew the whistle.
Okay. I'm officer Michaelson, I think all of you know James Bayley. I would like for you guys to answer some questions, and I hope you answer them as good as possible. I said.
We will sir. But little Bayley would never get in trouble if it wasn't for me. Said the captain with a smirk while he budged his friends.
Okay, do you know if anyone would want to hurt him or wished him dead? I asked. They all looked at each other with a shocked expression, they all stood more straight up and stopped joking around.
No, we don't. He's the most amazing guy we know. Everyone loves him here. If it wasn't for the fact that I was able to take him down many times during the try outs he would be the captain. Why are you asking this? Asked the captain.
He died yesterday. Here is my card, if you know anything more ot if your team mates want to talk one on one, and if there is any question feel free to contact me. I have to take this phone call. I said.Officer Michaelson here. "There's a new body in an alleyway around 5th and 6th avenue. Hobbs have killed again".
