Chapter 40: Detention

    "Can I hug you?", Riddhima asked, uncertain of his reply. 

    Having been shocked, Vansh nodded his head. 

    Taking her in his arms and stroking her hair with his palm, he found solace. In the eerie silence, love was blooming. After a journey of one-sided love, a relationship was formed where it seemed they truly wanted to be each other's forever. 

    An officer cleared his throat to get their attention, so Vansh was forced to separate her from him unwillingly. 

    "The time is over.", the officer said. 

    Vansh nodded and looked at Riddhima to assure her fast release.

    "THE COLLEGE STUDENT ARRESTED IN DRUG CASE IS SOMEHOW RELATED TO INDUSTRIALIST VANSH RAISINGHANIA."~~ BREAKING NEWS.

    The news channel started their discussion in the prime time show, having all the national and regional political party spokespersons on their panel as guests. 

    

    "Is the woman dragging the richest industrialist in our country to malign his name or to save herself? Does he have some connection to this drug case?", reporter asked. 

    The ruling party of state government replied, "We know he had 3 cases running in his name which are handled by CBI and ED. Raisinghania's name was found when an illegal weapons dealer was arrested in Italy, so nothing is new here. I think the player is the big name; the woman is just a puppet. With the blessings of the government, the CBI and ED cases against him were weak." 

    "I object to this, the woman is sure to be someone who intends to malign Mr. Raisinghania's reputation. She will definitely pay the prices for it.", the spokesperson of the ruling party of the central government said this.

    Social media was abuzz with Vansh Raisinghania's popularity. 

    But the shocking trend that went along with Vansh Raisinghania was "#The_Scarlet_Woman". 

    The troll, the bashing, the abusive words could push any person to mental trauma but Riddhima was saved till that time because of her being in the regional office, away from all the toxic social media buzz. 

    The clock struck 8 o'clock at night, the door got opened and Riddhima saw 14 people standing in front of her. 

    "Hello, Miss. Dasgupta, we are your team of lawyers. We will put all our efforts into bailing you after the hearing tomorrow. We are here to prepare you for the answers to the questions the NCB lawyer will ask you tomorrow in court.", he said. 

    Riddhima got flabbergasted and thought money could do so many things. There was a time when she used to knock on the doors of different lawyers in order to ask them to handle her parents' murder case, however, every single one of them deceived her, and today, a team of 14 lawyers is standing in front of her to protect her. 

    Truly, money screams.

    "Angre, the CCTV footage of that confectionary shop is what I want within the next 10 minutes.", Vansh ordered. 

    Shakib was given the job of bringing the footage to his Boss. 

    Shakib was shocked and he immediately dialed his Boss's number, "Boss, there is absolutely no footage of that half an hour when ma'am and I were standing here in the confectionary shop." 

    "I see. You know what you have to do, Shakib. I want the work done right now.", Vansh ordered and hung up the call. 

    Taking the vase off his table, he hurled it against the wall, smashing it into hundreds of pieces. 

    "Boss, calm down. Everything will work out for us, just a little time is needed.", Angre said. 

    "The longer we take, the longer she will have to stay in that cell, which I simply cannot tolerate. I have seen her devastated today and thank god she doesn't know about what is happening on social media. 48 hours from tomorrow, I want my Riddhima to be with me in my home. That's it.", Vansh said. 

    Angre nodded his head in agreement.

    The lawyer left at 8.30 p.m. and within 5 minutes, the NCB official was ready for further interrogation.

    Interrogation included questions about her background and her relationship with Vansh Raisinghania. 

    But her answers were not satisfying the officers. 

    Sharp at 10 p.m. she was served dinner and the medicine she was to take after her final meal as instructed by the man himself. 

    As the tough night wore on, Riddhima realized that she was accustomed to sharing a room with Mr. Raisinghania. However, until then couldn't understand why she was unable to stop thinking about her roommate. 

    Here, Vansh took a room in rent which was 100 m away from the NCB regional office just to stay near his wife as much as possible. 

    He wanted her in his arms the way he had taken her a few hours ago. His heart was beating romantically when Riddhima asked for a hug.

Next morning:

    The news channels and social media couldn't sleep with the question arising every now and then~ Who is Riddhima Dasgupta? Why is she so important to Vansh Raisinghania? What is their relationship?

    The clock struck 11 a.m. Riddhima was taken out of the NCB office to appear in court. 

    In her peripheral vision, she saw Vansh and his men standing away from the media. 

    In her mind, she knew that the man she had been living with for the past few months would do everything in his power to rescue her from the predicament.

    Vansh focused his eyes on Riddhima and her body movements as the court session started because he was frightened that the trauma she was enduring would have an impact on her.

    NCB officials' lawyer asked the court for permission for further interrogation of Riddhima, a search warrant at the place she lived in, and interrogation of Vansh Raisinghania. 

    During his visit to the NCB office yesterday, Vansh knew how important it was for him to deprive his wife of the intense spotlight, so she could be protected from the traumatic interrogation the NCB officers conducted on her. 

    He smirked a bit when he heard that the permission was granted to NCB. 

    Then he turned his face towards Angre and said, "The Game is on."

    While Riddhima was taken back to the NCB office at 1p.m, Vansh assured her that he would come for interrogation an hour before time. 

    It was 3 p.m., when Vansh received the order of the court to be present for interrogation by NCB. 

    He arrived within half an hour. Vansh and Riddhima were seated face to face while 3 NCB officers were there to start interrogation. 

    "Your name?", the officer asked. 

    "Vansh Raisinghania.", he replied in aura. 

    Observing him, Riddhima became aware of his confidence in facing the officers and his piercing gaze as if he could read their minds. 

    "For how many years did you know Miss Riddhima Dasgupta? What is your relationship with her? Why are you talking so much interest when you are not even involved in this case?", one of the officer asked.

    Awaiting what trick Vansh would play, Riddhima stared at him.
