Finnley's POV

I was so excited, today is my 16th birthday! I can finally get my second classification (that's if I went in public, which I don't) and I'm able to find my mate! (Also, I don't see people so that's not gonna happen but a boy can dream!)

I really hope my mate isn't a girl, since I'm gay. It makes me sad, since I can't tell my grandparents about it. But, they're so traditional and I couldn't bear it if they hated me for it, and it scares me that if I do meet my mate... they have the right to take me far away from them. It's the law, once you find your goddess given mate or mates (which is rare) you have to go live with them in their lands if they are a different species from yours.

It even scares me more that my mate isn't gay, and hates me and could hurt me! I'm just a little guy, let's just say I'm a runner and not a fighter.

But anyway, it's early in the morning which means it's time to go foraging in the forests by our cottage. Which I know is dangerous; but there's no other way for us to find food, and my grandparents are too old and feeble to do it.

Plus, I like it! Especially the running and being able to stretch my wings and fly. I don't do it often, because it's dangerous. Especially if someone found me and brought me to whichever king he follows, and my family knows I'm a clairvoyant. Your magical abilities show when you're born and everyone was surprised when they saw I was an earth fairy. Seeing as everyone in my family are neutrals, which in most kingdoms is just as bad as being a human.

After I was born, my mother was taken to the king of the werewolves as a chosen mate, seeing as she had the ability to have children and give birth to clairvoyants.

I was never told who my father is, and my grandpa always gets mad whenever I mention it so I stopped asking years ago. I know he knows who my father is or at least he has an idea, but I know my grandparents still grieve over loosing their only child to the king of the werewolves. I only wish that I get to see her one time in my life, that's all I've wanted; and have prayed to the moon goddess to gift me that every year on my birthday. And every year she ignores me and my deepest desire.

I grumble as I fly into the forest, on the other side of the mountain is a large stream where I usually catch fish, and there's a large fruit orchard close by. I usually stay closer to home, but the forest by us is practically empty of anything edible and we need extra food for the coming winter. This part of the forest makes me nervous, since it's so close to the vampire kingdom. But I have no choice, our part of the forest is pretty empty of anything edible so I have to take more and more risks as we get closer to winter.

So I land about a dozen feet from the clearings edge and walk to a large grove of peach trees, peaches have always been my favorite and they're also easy to preserve. Once my basket is full, I decided to walk back to the stream and gather some medicinal herbs from some plants by the waters edge.

I huff and sit down and take a rest, and before I know it I'm asleep with my head rested on a large rock covered with moss, me not thinking of how dangerous this could be.

I awaken to a tree branch snapping and one loud, defining growl reverberating through the forest followed by a smaller yet strong growl adorned with a surge of magic echoing throughout the clearing.

My eyes snap open, and looking across the stream and into the clearing I see one very tall man and another tall one but not as tall as the first one. The smaller man has waves of magic surrounding him like a protective aura, whereas the much taller man had this dark power that made me instantly want to submit to him.
