Aurelius' POV (Cassius' Father)

I was filled was rage, unadulterated rage that shook the walls of the castle. My queen could do nothing to quell me of my urges, my need for control.

How dare Cassius not tell me he found his third? How dare he not even offer the only clairvoyant in over a century to me, his king!

That little brat is in for it when he arrives!

The main doors of the throne room open and Cassius and his mate Tate walk in like they own the place. Tate is holding the hand of a tiny fairy boy, he's so cute with his blonde curls and feminine figure.

Something about him made me want to keep him, but I knew he belonged to my son.

He seemed scared of everything, the room full of courtesans, the guards stationed around the room, the various dignitaries waiting for their turn to speak to their king, and even me and my queen!

I wasn't that scary, maybe I could get him to like me within time. I quelled down my power to a manageable fizzle and smiled at the trio.

"Welcome back, Cassius! I see you've brought your mate and possibly another?" I give him my signature wolffish grin that he noticeably grimaces at.

It's no secret that he's not a fan of mine or the court, but especially how the warlock realm treated his mate for mating outside of his old realm.

Honestly, they've been together the better part of a century, you'd think he'd let it go! But nooooo, he's got to be one of the most stubborn people I've ever met! Including me, and that's saying something!

"This is Finnley, we hope you can graciously accept him into your court and kingdom, your majesty." Tate's soft but still strong voice filled my ears, I couldn't help but smile.

Warlocks were known to be able to create many things with their magic, and one of them that Tate excels at is his power to influence emotions and control others magical abilities.

He's a very strong warlock that I'm glad is on my side, I've seen how he can pick apart an enemies whole spirit apart with just the flick of his wrist.

He still controls most of his magic with hand movements or spells inside his mind, but he has been known to shadow travel or time hop when ever needed.

He's still a remarkably young but experienced warlock, that comes with the territory of being the warlock kings third son. If I remember correctly, he hasn't seen nor spoken to his family in almost a century.

Sounds about time for a party to celebrate Finnley joining my kingdom and being the first clairvoyant in over a century!

I come back to my senses as I hear the shuffling of small feet on my marble floors, I smile again at Finnley and nod my head in agreement.

"We'd be happy to accept him into our family! We love him already!" My overly excited Queen exclaimed. I couldn't help but laugh at her cuteness, it's like we just adopted a baby and she couldn't help but love him already.

"If you'll excuse us father, we have traveled long and Finnley's grandparents have been sent to the old folks home in neutral territory. It's been quite a distressing time for him and he needs rest." Cassius said as he rubbed Finnley's back in affection.

"What are his grandparents names? Do we know of them?" My queen asked as she looked at Finnley's wings on his back in interest.

"I don't believe so, his grandfather is Claude DuBois and his mates name is Violette. They are truly lovely people who did everything to raise Finnley since he was a baby. His mother was taken by the werewolf king to become a chosen mate since she can produce clairvoyants." Tate said with disdain lacing his tone at the end.

It's understandable, chosen mates were frowned upon and many chose to stay alone rather than feel the pain of rejection from society.

I was surprised to hear my old friend, Claude, was still alive. I thought he died almost twenty years ago in the wars when we never heard from him again. Seems like I need a meeting with him, we have much to discuss with Finnley's past and future

"Do we know of her true mate?" I asked. It was bad what the werewolf king was doing, and if he has found a way to produce clairvoyants with his strong werewolf genes, then there's no telling what he could do if there was another war looming.

"No, but we were hoping we could find a way to speak to her or find a way into the werewolf kings court." Tate replied again in his normal calm, soothing manner.

I nodded and shooed them away with a wave of my hand, I had much on my mind tonight. I have a sneaking suspicion all wasn't well with Finnley's mother.

What was the werewolf king doing with her? And does Finnley have a father, if so, who is it?
