Sophie tried transmitting to Keefe, to tell him that they were coming for him in a matter of hours. No matter how hard she pushed, her transmission never received a response. Not even the slightest hint of a thought registered at the words she shoved into the world. That scared her so much more than she was willing to admit.

After trying to transmit for a good ten minutes, she decided that action would speak louder than words. It was time to set her plan into action.

Ro and Sandor stood next to her, gazing down at the spyball in her lap as she sat on the edge of her bed, her determination causing her nerves to settle.

"Show me Keefe Sencen."

The ball stayed black for one endless second. Two. Three.

And then colors swirled within the glass, the inside turning into a murky picture.

It was luck. Pure luck that the Neverseen had decided to take Keefe to a Forbidden City, unaware of the fact that Sophie had a spyball that would allow her to locate them. If they had gone to one of their hideouts the chances that the spyball would have worked were slim.

Sophie released a prayer of thanks - old human habit - as she gazed intently into the glass. What she saw made her want to cry and scream and set the whole world on fire.

There was Keefe, gagged and tied to a chair, clearly sedated as she and Dex had been while in the captivity of the Neverseen. His hair was limp and sweaty, sticking to his forehead in random streaks of blonde. His eyes were closed, and Sophie found herself willing to pay anything just to see those eyes open, to catch even just one glimpse of their icy hue.

There were shadowy figures around him, but nobody she could make out specifically. If only she could see the environment surrounding them, she might have been able to teleport there and surprise the Neverseen, getting Keefe out of their grasp even before their scheduled meeting. Her luck only ran so far, though, and the scenery surrounding Keefe was blurry and unfocused. No way she could teleport there, then. She just had to pray that Keefe would hold on until sunset. That he would have the strength to fight back.

Sophie, Sandor, and Ro discussed the plan for their stand against the Neverseen, how they would attempt to get both Keefe and Sophie out of there safely. Sophie understood that they were going to try to keep her safe during this mission, but she was more than willing to sacrifice herself for Keefe should it come to that. He was worth that much, and so much more.

Sophie hailed Dex right before getting ready to leave, trusting him with the plan. He had been the only person to support her as she fought for Keefe, and she felt she owed him the relief of knowing that the situation would be handled. Keefe would be safe.

Not only that, but she had a small favor to ask of him before leaving.
