I sighed as I looked up at the pale grey painted skies. Yesterday's rain just cleared and the grass was still dewy with raindrops.

Waiting for class to start. Draco and his goons, talking about, beside me.

"C'mon, now, get a move on!" I heard a booming voice call. I paused my daydreaming, noticing a certain ravenette. I waved to Autumn and fortunately she waved back.

"Got a real treat for yeh today! Great lesson comin' up! Everyone here? Right, follow me!" the giant man said.

As we trailed behind Hagrid, Draco turned to me and whispered, "the oaf better not be taking us into the forest."

I just chuckled in response.

We found ourselves outside some kind of paddock. "Everyone gather round the fence here!" the professor called, but there was nothing inside.

"That's it- make sure yeh can see. Now firs' thing yeh'll want ter do is open yer books-"

"How?" Draco interrupted from beside me.

"Eh?" Hagrid said.

"How do we open our books," he repeated, taking out his copy of the monstrous book.

"Hasn'- hasn' anyone bin able to open their books?" he frowned. Me and Autumn raised our hands, as the others shook their heads. But, of course, we had information that nobody else did.

"You have to stroke the spine." Autumn grinned. Acting as if it was common sense. I took out my book and stroked the spine to demonstrate. It shivered before falling open in my hand.

"Oh, how silly we've all been!" Draco sneered in annoyance. "We should have stroked them! Why didn't we guess!" he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

I smacked his arm, getting a small 'hey!' in response.

"I... I thought they were funny..." Hagrid trailed off.

"Oh, tremendously funny!" Draco said, "really witty, giving us books that try and rip our hands-" I quickly slapped my hands over his blabbering mouth. Smiling apologetically before turning to the platinum blonde, grabbing hold of his precious hair, and whispering, "too far, snake boy. It's just a book!"

I heard Autumn snigger behind me and I felt my face flush in embarrassment.

"Righ'then," said Hagrid, "so... so yeh got yer books an'... an'... now yeh need the magical creatures. Yeah. So I'll go an' get 'em. Hang on..."

Hagrid was obviously upset that someone thought he was doing a bad job... AHEM! Draco Lucius Malfoy!

As if on que with my thoughts I heard a small 'sorry' from the blondie. I let go of my grip on his hair and flattened it out a bit before giving him a sympathetic smile.

"God, this place is going to the dogs," Draco groaned from beside me. I shook my head, a faint smile visible on my lips.

"That oaf teaching classes, my father'll have a fit when I tell him-"

"Shut up, Malfoy." Harry growled.

"Careful, Potter, there's a dementor behind you."

Me and Autumn exchanged a quick look before putting our hoods on and 'ooh'ing for special effect.

Lavender Brown squealed, pointing at what I knew as hippogriffs. The horse-like creatures trotted towards us with our professor following close behind.

"Gee up, there!" he roared, shaking the chains and urging the creatures towards the fence where the class waited.
