At the same time we made it down the street to the Swann residence. Charlie and Billy were already outside, with another familiar face.
"Oh there he is!" Billy turned his wheelchair to face us as we approached. "And he's actually got her with him. I for one am shocked."
"Alright, settle down." A genuine smile from my father, one I never see. But his friends seemed to recognize it's warmth.
Moving out of the way to show me off, he motions to them.
"Thalia, you remember, Billy and Charlie."
"How could I forget the best two in all of Forks?" I smile at them. A bend down; to hug Billy. "It's very good to see you."
"You as well." A comforting hug as he pats my back, and pulls away. "You've grown up so much. Look at you. No longer little, Thalia."
"No longer."
A squeeze of my hand as he gives me a look. Not one of pity but in comfort. I knew exactly who I looked like to everyone. The resemblance was a smack in the face every single time.
Billy smiles and looks to his left. "You remember, Jake."
I finally let my eyes travel to Jacob Black who gets out of the car.
Not fully the Jake I remember. This one had longer hair and was slowly gaining some more muscle to him. At one point I was taller than him but that was no longer as he approached.
How did so much change in so little time....
Jacob rested a palm on his fathers shoulder, he looked down at him with a grin before our eyes locked.
"If it isn't my old best friend."
I scoff. "You make us sound like we are ancient relics who have just met again."
Jacob laughs, moving away from his father to hug me. Strangely I welcomed the hug and did not push him away from me like I would with others.
"It's good to see you again, Thal."
That nickname stung. Only a few people ever used it. It had been forever since I heard anyone ever utter it to me.
Jacob pulls back, his warmth and comfort going with him.
"I missed you around here. Didn't have anybody nerves to pick at."
