"Of course." You accept, sucking a little more of your sweet drink that James had gone out of his way to get for you, as you looked up at him before taking your lips off the drink and looking directly into his eyes."This is so nice thank you again James. I really mean it."
James then closed his eyes and tilted his head to the side before smiling.
"Anything for you." He spoke, his tone lower than intended which made it seem more flirty than first anticipated, but you felt your stomach flutter.
You then decided to continue drinking your caramel infused drink, feeling the sweetness cover your pink tinted lips.
You loved the flavour, as caramel was sweet and salty, the perfect balance of taste for your palate.
"So, how've you been?" James asked, before taking another sip of his drink and pushing it forward a little, looking at you again.
"Oh I've been good, my friend just keeps pestering me about how I keep talking about you to her. It's funny really, it's like she thinks we're dating." You spoke honestly, rolling your eyes at the end.
James saw your reaction when you said that, and felt his heart sink in his chest.
"Y-yeah, how funny is that? I mean we're totally not dating so I don't know why she perceives us like that, that's absurd." His voice with an obvious sad undertone, as his stomach began to just twist and turn, metaphorically of course.
"But anyway, we've both been good, but gotta say, college is one difficult feat. I mean I can't even get to classes in time. Unless a friend guides me there, I won't be present." You then joked, but then laying your head on your hand, looking over at James still.
"Well the college is definitely a big place, and I thought I was the one struggling to get around since I have never been in England before." James joked, joining in with your struggles of college, as he obviously experienced them too.
"That's very true on your end. But by the look of things I can tell you really like being here, and maybe I helped you come out of your shell a little too." You told him, before you finished off your drink, as you saw the last bit of cream sit at the bottom of the cup.
"Yeah, you actually have you know. Us being friends has actually opened me up to new possibilities. Thank you y/n." James spoke, noticing your now empty cup, and speeding up with finishing his off to match.
But when he said the 'friend' part, he felt a like daggers had pierced his heart. He wished he could have someone like you in his life, his future. But that was just a dream he'd have, a fantasy if you would.
"Don't mention it James, don't mention it." You reply, a chirpiness in your voice.
James nodded, with a slim smile before looking down at his left wrist with his watch on, and then realised that he'd have to get you and him moving from here soon, if he wanted to get his other surprise.
"Oh we better get going, I have one more surprise for you too y/n." James spoke, finishing the last of his drink off and rubbing his mouth that had the stickiness of the frappe on his partially chapped lips.
"Wait you do? James you didn't have to oh my god." You spoke, your tone excited but then breathless at this other feat he had planned for the two of you.
James chuckled before getting up from his chair, and pushing it outward, before putting it back under the table as he rested his arms atop the wood.
You looked up to James's lanky figure with his arms bent slightly, still with a small happiness in his aura, that all seemed forced.
