It wasn't until after Jang Wook miraculously got Mu-Deok out of the cursed mirror that he began to think things through. The artifact created illusions that made a person see a warped version of Mu-Deok. Just like a mirror reflected the image of whoever stands in front of it, the version of Mu-Deok that appeared reflected what the individual wanted to see. All it took was thinking about her to make her likeness appear.

And appear she did. Standing in front of him willing to give him exactly what he wanted but would have never said out loud. And when she touched his face, he could have lost control right then and given in to every treacherous thought he'd had since first meeting her. The woman who risked his friend's life continuously but seemed unfailingly loyal. Willing to go through torture to ensure Jang-Wook got what he needed, the woman who treated him like an equal even though she was a lowly maid, who looked him in the eye like she knew everyone of his secrets. Yes, he could have given in right then, finally loosing his rigid control, and embraced all that she was offering. However, there was one problem.

He hadn't been thinking of Mu-Deok at the time. He had been thinking of the girl with his bird whistle, the woman that he saw dead in the bowels of Songrim, the assassin whose name was feared across the nation. So then why did Mu-Deok's image appear?

Quick as lightning flashing across the sky, the connections seemed to fall into place. Naksu and her ability to transfer her soul to another,  Naksu having the bird whistle he remembered giving to another, Jang-Wook suddenly having abilities that should have been impossible since his energy channel was just opened, a woman that knew of life on the mountain and the sun in winter, and the sudden appearance of a maid that he had never seen in his best friend's house.

Naksu was the girl he remembered from the mountain. Thinking of her, Mu-Deok appeared in a vision to him dressed in the mountain girl's dress.

Mu-Deok isn't just a maid servant. Mu-Deok is Naksu, his first love that broke his heart all those years ago and the infamous shadow assassin.
