Illuminated and crowded arcades are full of children eager to spend their money on machines. Cosy wooden cabins are mute, resting in the heart of a mysterious town. Unique teenagers are seeking validation from everybody else. Iconic music is blasting through the static atmosphere. This is home. This is Hawkins.
A long-awaited sigh blurts from Vennie's mouth. "We're here. We're actually here!" she glances around, in disbelief. "It doesn't feel real." the overwhelming sensation of nostalgia drowns her. The way the past has a gripping chokehold on her, and her life. The way her memories are overflowing her senses, regardless of what the future may hold for her. She turns her head, searching for her mom next to her. However, only the presence of her heart aching is there. Her head hangs low in grief. "I love you mom." She painfully remembers the feeling of her mother's warm hand grasping hers through a dark abyss. She closes her eyes, just to recall that she was never there, she's just a figment of her own, deceiving imagination.
Vennie has a whole wide world ahead of her, the feeling of loss just holds her back. The feeling of not being expensive, worthy, valuable, to anybody.
