When you wake back up, it is due to cold water hitting your body, making you tense up violently as you are ripped out of your unconscious slumber.
"HAAH-!", you shriek and then shiver, the cold touch familiar for a second as you associate it with feathers for some reason, a hand on your face until the memory fades like a dream.
And you wake up in a nightmare.
"H...wh-what..."
Your eyes widen at the horrifying sight in front of you.
A creature is standing just a few feet away from you, holding a now empty bucket in his hand he places down, wearing a golden crown on his head with glowing antlers growing out of it, which isn't what horrifies you.
It's the sight of his body that does, the creature standing tall at 7ft4 with bones that grow out of his shoulder like armour, his ribcage open on display with glowing colours whirling in it, and as you stare at it you can make out faces, twisted in silent screams as your eyes widen.
Souls.
There are souls trapped in his chest, real, human souls because you can faintly hear their screams, you can hear words the closer this creature comes and your whole body tenses and crawls from how wrong, how vile it looks-
Save me
Save me
Save me
Save me
Oh god
You never saw anything like this before, even if you can't remember your past you are sure you wouldn't have forgotten a sight this terrifying, the souls groaning in pain as they move and shift inside his chest and when the creature comes closer, you just stare at it.
Save me
Save me
Save me
Save me
Despite the inhuman appearance it sounds human, it sounds horrifyingly human, it sounds like its in pain and suffering, even though its expression is blank behind the gas mask and he doesn't look in pain but you can hear their cries mixing together in its body, calling out to you and you involuntarily tear up because you never saw something so cruel before.
A body that is forced to live on, souls that are crammed in it like prisoners that make it suffer just as much as they do, fused in eternal pain and trauma and when it crouches down to loosen your shackles you involuntarily take its face into your hands, the creature stopping as it freezes.
"Who did this to you?", you whisper and its glowing green eyes shift upwards to you, the gas mask covering its mouth but it doesn't move as if it didn't expect you to touch it.
Save me
Save me
Save me
"I can't...I'm sorry...", you say quietly and you are, you can barely imagine the agony it has to be in, the suffering that the souls bring with them-
One human soul already holds enough pain for a lifetime, you can't even begin to think about how much several souls have to hold, all forced into this shell of a creature to force it to live on, to move, to breathe...
