No, no, no!
Let me go, stop!
Please, what do you want?
I can't breathe...give me a break!
What is this? Stop.
I don't know you and I'm sure you have no reason or right to treat me like this, go home and mind your on business!
His grip tightened around my arm, and as he came closer he whispered in my ear:
"shhhh, I know you better than you think."I woke up with a gasp, breathing heavily. He was gone, it was just a bad dream. I reached out for my water bottle on the ground beside my bed. I stood up to drink. As the water ran down, my body felt better and I was able to think normally. I only noticed then that my dad was standing in the corner of the room. He looked worried at me and asked if I was alright.
"This is the 4th time this week, your nightmares are torturing you, perhaps we should go see an expert that can help you. I already arranged an appointment for you with him tomorrow. Well actually more like today its, already 2:40, go get some sleep."
I stared blankly into the space, trying to process what my dad had said. He was going to take me to an expert? Expert at what? I was confused and tired. I laid back down in my bed, mumbling a yes to whatever my dad was asking of me.
I wasn't sure how I could go back to sleep again. I was tired and my body felt heavy, yet I couldn't get myself to fall asleep. Peeking through one eye I checked if my dad was still there. He was, but he was quietly snoring in a chair, he must have been pretty tired too I thought. I turned on my flashlight and walked quietly to the door. Hoping that it wouldn't squeak too loud, I gently pressed against it. The door moved open without a sound, I was lucky.
I tried to find the bathroom door with my flash light. It was only two days after we had moved in here. My dad, my mom, Louisa and me. I didn't like the house. Or the city. Or all of this. I stopped, and asked myself:
What's the point of this? Why can't I just be 10 years older already have a nice family, a good job, and live a happy life? Instead I was a naughty teenage girl who was obsessed with her music and ripped jeans. A typical teenager just like you would see in any movie. Was that really all I was?
Feeling worthless, I fell asleep that night.
