The Heartbreak

Chapter 3

Gumball arrived in the forest and started running around frantically searching for Darwin.

"DARWIN!? DAAAARWIIIIIN!!? WHERE ARE YOU!?!" He yelled, crying.

"DARWIN, PLEEEEAASEE!" Tears streamed down his face as he called out at the top of his lungs.

He heard faint sobbing nearby and ran towards it.

He finally found Darwin curled up crying, not even noticing Gumball was there.

"DARWIN!? OH THANK GOD YOU'RE OKAY! I WAS S-S-SO WORRIED!"

He ran over and hugged him tightly, crying his eyes out.

"It's okay...you don't have to pretend like you care." He said in a depressed tone as he pushed Gumball away.

Gumball gasped. "W-what!? P-p-pretending...? I-I'm not pretending! Why would you ...why would you ever, ever think something like that!?" He sounded hurt saying this, shocked that Darwin would ever genuinely believe such a thing.

"I heard you talking on the phone! I heard what you said about me! I heard the truth! He snapped.

"W-w-what do you...what do you mean..? W-when?! He looked confused, having no idea what Darwin was talking about.

Darwin looked up, his eyes red from crying so much. "Just now before I ran away! You said you wanted to get rid of me! That you wouldn't care if anything happened to me! That you wished Mr Dad had never bought me! That I'm just a dumb pet!"

He stood up scowling at Gumball, who had his paws over his mouth in shock and guilt. It was his fault! Darwin had overheard him and thought he was talking about him! He...he must be heartbroken...

Darwin continued, slowly getting louder until he was almost yelling" I should have realised long ago that you never cared about me, and do you wanna know why!? I was there when you tried to REPLACE ME! I saw it from the window! I saw everything! It took me until now to realise, you don't CARE about me! YOU NEVER HAVE!

"Darwin, buddy, oh my god, I..." Gumball's increased tenfold, eyes widening at this revelation as tears streamed down his face, He was there...? He saw about to...about to replace me...he knew about it this whole time and never once brought it up...he must have felt so bad...and no wonder he was so jealous of Penny and Fuzzy, he felt threatened by them...scared that I was gonna replace him with them...

Darwin was now full-on screaming.

"YOU HAD ME FOR A DAY AND FLUSHED ME DOWN THE TOILET! YOU DIDN'T WANT ME BACK, YOU WANTED TO GET RID OF ME! YOU HOPED FLUSHING ME WOULD RID YOU OF ME BUT WHEN I CAME BACK YOU WERE STUCK WITH ME!"

Gumball had never seen him this mad or upset before and it hurt so, so badly knowing it was because of him that it had happened.

"I'VE NEVER BEEN ANYTHING MORE TO YOU THAN A DISPOSABLE PET! I CAN'T BELIEVE I EVER ACTUALLY THOUGHT YOU WERE MY FRIEND! YOU MANIPULATED ME, MADE ME BELIEVE YOU LOVED ME, THAT I WAS YOUR BROTHER! YOU HAD ME FOOLED, BUT NOT ANYMORE! I'M DONE BEING YOUR ENTERTAINMENT!"
