Rory Henderson was well-known from the ages of 7-14 for being overly obsessed with dungeons and dragons. At this time she would stay up for an unimaginable amount of hours and plan campaigns for dnd which also ended up taking days to complete.
With the countless amount of names being thrown at Rory and the few that would end up being pinned to her for the rest of her years, she couldn't deal with being made fun of every minute of her day and Rory's desperation to be popular grew stronger by the minute.
Hawkins was a small town with a population of approximately 15,000 people. If you weren't popular, you either were completely invisible or stuck out entirely from everyone.
Once Rory ultimately decided to distance herself from the group, she expected the group to slowly grow apart from each other and wanted to completely forget about it. Despite her wishes, Eddie ensured the club stayed strong and renamed it 'Hellfire Club.'
