Chapter 3

Sonal's POV

Bangalore, in my room

I woke up quite early in the morning. I never required much sleep. 5-6 hours and I am energized for a whole day. I usually work late at night, but I am jetlagged right now, so it will take time to adjust to the new timezone. I always like early mornings and late nights. It is the best time for reading and writing because of the silence.

I got out of bed and went to my balcony. The sun had just hit the horizon, giving a warm orange glow to the sky. The view from here had changed since the last time I was here. The street seemed busier, even though it was almost empty in this early morning. Shops were renovated with new colors and name boards. I think the house down the road had only one floor, but now it has two floors. Not everything can stay the same, I think.

I thought I should get ready now, as it would take a long time to reach Uncle Suryavardhan's house. I opened my bags that were left outside my room. I would unpack later today when I come back, or maybe tomorrow. Now, the question every woman faces in the morning: what to wear today?

I decided to choose something simple and comfortable for travel. I always prioritize comfort over fashion trends. As I was deciding what to wear, Papa came in, as he always did after knocking. "Good morning, beta. Did you get restful sleep? Are you still tired?" he asked. "No, Papa, I am not tired anymore," I said, smiling at his concern for me.

"That's good. We will leave for KGF in an hour. Get ready quickly, or we will be late," he said. "I will, Papa, as soon as I decide what to wear today," I replied, looking through my clothes. "Well, I think I have something for you. Wait a minute," he said before leaving my room. He returned with a bag in his hand, saying, "Beti, I bought this for you sometime before. Thought it was somewhat your style." I smiled when I looked into the bag and said, "Papa, this is beautiful." "Like my daughter. Now go get ready," he said. "I will get ready in half an hour. Are Bhai and Reena coming with us?"

Papa: "You know how Reena does not like your uncle, nor does Kamal. Only you can see the good in everyone, even if they are born from darkness," he said, while thinking, 'Suryavardhan only likes you, and they do not have permission to come to KGF. He has specifically asked to meet you and no one else.'

Sonal: "It is not like that, Papa. Uncle is so nice. Why would you say that?"

He looked at his sweet daughter, thinking, 'Suryavardhan has only been nice to you, beti. We have always protected this innocent nature of yours and hidden how this world is filled with darkness. I still don't know if we did the right thing or not.'

Papa: "Nothing, beta. I think that Bhai and Reena do not like your uncle because you are his favorite. Now, go get ready," he said, before leaving my room.

I didn't think much about it, as he and Bhai always do this. They say something with hidden meaning and change what they said afterward. Even after all these years, I still can not understand them. I went towards my bathroom to get ready.
