*District 21: Break Room*
Ana was over at the counter, pouring herself a cup of coffee, when Adam appeared on her right with mug in hand. She poured him some too and he smiled in thanks. The brunette returned it with one of her own just as another voice spoke up from behind them.
"What does it say about the Chicago Police Department that you turkeys serve up the best coffee in the building?" Trudy muttered, walking in with a mug of her own.
"Well, I'd say it speaks more to Sarge's ability to make great tasting coffee no matter where she is rather than anything about the CPD." The Officer retorted, sipping at his drink while Ana filled her best friend's cup.
"Yeah, ain't that the truth." The Desk Sergeant nodded in agreement. "Hey, I saw the flyer downstairs about Disco Bob's party."
"Yeah, this weekend. No obligation." Adam assured as they began making their way back out into the Bullpen.
"Are you nuts?" Trudy scoffed. "I don't go to those things. Unless it's Ana's, of course."
"Thanks, Hun." The brunette rolled her eyes and sat down at her desk.
"Years ago, when we were babies working at the 13th, your dad would show up for his shift reciting your stats from your game the night before." The Desk Sergeant recalled, fondly.
"Aww." Jay smirked from behind his computer.
"Adam went three for four last night with a double and two RBIs." Trudy mocked as she headed towards the stairs.
The Officer, himself, took a seat at his desk and tried his best to not look embarrassed.
"Well, we should definitely keep doing that." Kim joked from hers with a serious expression.
"Adam went three for four last night with a hoagie and two beers." Jay teased.
"And a sacrifice pickle." She grinned.
"Eww." He grimaced, making her laugh even harder.
Ana, who had a huge smile on her face, looked up just in time to see her husband come out of his Office with a bottle of liquor in his hand.
"Something for your old man." Hank explained while handing it to Adam.
The younger man glanced over at the brunette and she just winked at him in response.
"Thanks, guys. You didn't have to do that. I know you two had your issues with him over the years." He recalled.
"30 years of service to the city of Chicago is 30 years of service." The older man shrugged, turning and heading back towards where he came from. "End of story."
"Appreciate it." Adam nodded.
Ana's smile grew just a little bit wider at that.
*Later That Night: Bob Ruzek's House*
The Intelligence Unit stormed the scene after Adam went to drop of the bottle of liquor at his dad's place and found no trace of him other than a few toppled chairs along with a trail of blood leading out the back door.
"Hey. Hey! We told you to get that van out of here." Hank glared at a nearby patrolman and waved at the vehicle he was referring to.
"Copy, Sergeants." She nodded, running across the street.
"All right. Everybody, listen up." Ana commanded as Jay, Kim, Kevin, and Andre Cooper all crowded around the two Sergeants. "The last thing Bob Ruzek needs is his face on the evening news. That's how people get hurt."
