You sighed as the TV flashed to Marcie getting an axe to the face, her blood-curdling scream echoing throughout the store.

The TV in the video store always had a fuzzy image, no matter what tape, and always seemed to frizz at the best parts of the movie.

But the angle you were sitting at on the counter helped a little bit.

Randy sat to himself in the corner, his eyes trained on the screen as if to keep himself from looking at something else, the silence between you two almost deafening.

That week had probably been the most awkward you'd ever had to endure.

Ever since you and Randy had sex, that nagging feeling of fear and guilt hasn't left you alone.

You tried to avoid him, but he was so persistent, and honestly sweet about it, that it made you feel like a major league asshole.

And the craziest part was that you wanted to talk and hang out with him more than anything.

But that voice in the back of your head was telling me to give space so you could figure out all of your very conflicting feelings.

But that space was now thrown out the window as you and Randy were working the night shift at the video store...alone.

Can't believe I forgot to check the schedule this week.

"I don't get why you like that movie so much," Randy chimed, breaking the silence.

Shit.

It was times like these you really wished you had a customer.

The store was dead, not a person in sight outside, either.

But maybe this was good.

"'Cause it innovated a type of filming and story line that had never been done before," you answered curtly from your spot on the counter, hoping he'd take the hint that you didn't want to talk.

But he gave you his classic guilt-tripping look and nodded for you to go on.

You bit back a smile and rolled your eyes, shifting your position so you could face him.

"It was one of the first movies in horror history to have almost all of the kills from the killer's perspective. And for once, you couldn't really tell who was the protagonist. The kills were gruesome, the suspense was packing, and the effects and casting were pretty decent considering they were on a shoestring budget, and they still broke box office records."

Randy just kept on looking at you with that awe-stricken, enamored look.

It caught you off guard, your cheeks burning as you avoided his eyes.
